A request has been received for the temporary closure of C2200 Llanelli from its junction with Pentrepoeth Road for a total distance of 208 metres in a south-easterly direction.

The closure is necessary to ensure public safety whilst Quantum Traffic Management carry out duct laying works from 0800 hours to 1600 hours Monday 27th February, 2023.

The alternative route for south-east bound traffic will be to proceed in a south-westerly direction along the C2200 Pentrepoeth Road to its junction with the B4309 New Road. At the junction, turn left and continue in a south-westerly to south-easterly direction along the B4309 New Road to its junction with the A484 West End. At the junction, turn left and continue in a south-easterly to north-easterly direction along the A484 West End and Gelli Onn to its junction with the A476. At the junction, turn left and continue in a north-easterly direction along the A476 Thomas Street and Felinfoel Road to return to a point south-east of the closure.

The existing one way traffic order will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the closure to allow two way working along this section of road

Please see the following response from CCC regarding the subway.

It is currently closed during periods of heavy rain as the electrical pump which controls the drainage system has failed. We are awaiting a specialist contractor to attend to clean the manhole chamber and then then install a new pump as part of a permanent repair. The subway will re-open temporarily by tomorrow lunchtime but will be closed during period of rain until the permanent repair is undertaken.

Following concerns raised regarding the closure of the subway that joins Swansea Road to Andrew Street I have been in touch with Carmarthenshire County Council for an update and will share the latest news once I receive a reply.

In the meantime if others are having any
issues in the ward then please do get in touch.

Message from Carmarthenshire CC

📣 Following samples taken yesterday Natural Resources Wales have identified blue-green algae in the water at North Dock, Llanelli.

⚠️ As a precaution, we have installed warning signs asking people and their animals not to enter the water.

⛔ Please ensure you and your pets do not come into contact with the algae or the water, and make sure you maintain basic hand hygiene.

💦 Blue-green algae naturally occurs in inland waters, estuaries and the sea. Blooms can form when their numbers become excessive.

☠️ Bloom and scum-forming blue-green algae can produce toxins. These toxins can be very dangerous to animals. In humans, they can cause rashes after skin contact and illnesses if swallowed.

SUMMER OF FUN AND PADDLING POOLS

Llanelli Town Council, through the Welsh Government Summer of Fun programme are arranging a series of free play activities at Town Council Parks and Green Spaces throughout the Summer holiday period. Please keep an eye out on social media for activities in your local park. The activities are being arranged in partnership with People Speak Up and funded by Welsh Government.

In addition to the arranged Llanelli Town Council Summer of Fun Activities, Town Council Paddling Pools at Crown Park and Peoples’ Park along with the Pool at Parc Howard will open for the Summer Holidays Period from Wednesday 20th July 2022.

The paddling pools will be open daily, but are dependent on the weather, please keep an eye on announcements via Llanelli Town Council Social Media to avoid disappointment.

Each pool will have an on-duty attendant in place throughout hours of operation. These staff members provide an attendant presence to fill and empty the facility and monitor use of the pool. Please note, children must not be left unattended at the pools and remain the responsibility of parents / guardians at all times. For your children's comfort we recommend the wearing of suitable water play footwear.

Town Council Splash Pads at Havelock Park and Penyfan Park will also be open daily throughout the summer period.

Town Council Leader Cllr David Darkin and Town Mayor Cllr Philip Warlow said ‘We’re delighted that the Town Council is able to arrange these excellent free Summer of Fun activities and to provide free access facilities like the paddling pools over the Summer Holiday period for families in Llanelli. We are grateful to our partners at Welsh Government, Carmarthenshire County Council and People Speak Up for their support’.

HAF O HWYL A PHYLLAU P***O

Mae Cyngor Tref Llanelli, drwy raglen Haf o Hwyl Llywodraeth Cymru, yn trefnu cyfres o weithgareddau chwarae am ddim ym Mharciau a Mannau Chwarae'r Cyngor Tref drwy gydol cyfnod gwyliau’r haf. Cofiwch gadw llygad ar gyfryngau cymdeithasol am weithgareddau yn eich parc lleol. Mae'r gweithgareddau'n cael eu trefnu mewn partneriaeth â People Speak Up a'u hariannu gan Lywodraeth Cymru.

Yn ogystal â’r Haf o Weithgareddau Hwyl a drefnwyd gan Gyngor Tref Llanelli, bydd Pyllau Padlo’r Cyngor Tref ym Mharc y Goron a Pharc y Bobl ynghyd â’r Pwll ym Mharc Howard yn agor ar gyfer Cyfnod Gwyliau’r Haf o ddydd Mercher 20fed Gorffennaf 2022.

Bydd y pyllau p***o ar agor yn ddyddiol, ond yn dibynnu ar y tywydd, cadwch lygad ar gyhoeddiadau trwy Gyfryngau Cymdeithasol Cyngor Tref Llanelli i osgoi cael eich siomi.

Bydd gan bob pwll gynorthwyydd ar ddyletswydd yn ystod yr oriau gweithredu. Mae'r aelodau staff hyn yn darparu presenoldeb cynorthwyol i lenwi a gwagio'r cyfleuster a monitro'r defnydd o'r pwll. Sylwer, mae plant yn parhau i fod yn gyfrifoldeb rhieni / gwarcheidwaid trwy'r amser ac ni ddylai plant gael eu gadael i fynychu'r pyllau ar eu hunain. Er cysur eich plant, rydym yn argymell gwisgo esgidiau chwarae dŵr addas.

Bydd Parciau Chwarae Dŵr y Cyngor Tref ym Mharc Havelock a Pharc Penyfan hefyd ar agor bob dydd trwy gydol cyfnod yr haf.

Dywedodd Maer y Dref y Cynghorydd Philip Warlow a Arweinydd y Cyngor Tref y Cynghorydd David Darkin ‘Rydym wrth ein bodd bod y Cyngor Tref yn gallu trefnu’r gweithgareddau Haf o Hwyl wych hyn am ddim a darparu cyfleusterau mynediad am ddim fel y pyllau p***o dros gyfnod Gwyliau’r Haf i deuluoedd yn Llanelli. Rydym yn ddiolchgar i’n partneriaid yn Llywodraeth Cymru, Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin a People Speak Up am eu cefnogaeth’.
