Important visitor news. 🚨

To help make sure WWT Llanelli thrives long into the future, for both wildlife and people, we’ll be introducing seasonal opening hours from 1 September 2026.

Like a lot of charities in Wales and across the UK, we’re facing rising costs and increasing financial pressures, alongside historically lower visitor numbers during quieter times of the year.

Moving to a seasonal opening pattern will help us respond to these challenges while also focussing our time and resources where they matter most: making your visitor experience the best it can be and doing our vital conservation work.

The site will remain open year-round; opening 7 days a week during busier spring and summer months and 3-5 days a week during the quieter autumn and winter period.

So, there’s plenty of time to experience our wetlands, and the wildlife that call them home, through all the seasons. 💚

What do you mean it's been a tad windy this week?

We love this brilliant capture of a Heron having a bad hair day by Jessica Crumpton. 😂

The weather may have been a bit much lately, but that hasn't stopped reserve warden Sam putting together a fab wildlife sightings report: https://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/llanelli/wildlife/latest-sightings/a-visiting-barnacle-goose-marsh-harriers-and-fledging-passerines

Have a read to find out more about the latest Otter sightings and passerine breeding successes, and take a trip down the Barnacle Goose rabbit hole.

What a challenge 13-year-old cyclist Gildas has set himself! He is cycling 3,333 kilometres in 3 months, which is the same distance the Tour De France professionals have to cover! He'll be raising money for some wonderful causes that are close to his heart, and we're honoured to be included on his list.

His mum, Amy, told us: "Gildas has been coming to WWT Llanelli since he was a tiny baby. It's a special place for our whole family, and Gildas really values time there and what WWT are doing to support wetlands and help people fall back in love with nature."

Thank you so much for your support, Gildas!💙

The builders are officially on site to start remodelling the entrance to improve accessibility as part of the Welcome Project, and this curious little Shelduck family couldn’t resist sneaking in to take a peek! Adorable! Sound on 🔈

Shout out to Woody at the desk for capturing these cuties on camera.
