The Town Mayor sends his thanks following his Civic Service held at St Collen's Church.

As part of the service, the Mayor made an Act of Commitment to the town before lighting the Community Candle as a symbol of shared hope, unity and commitment. Members of the community and local organisations then joined in by lighting smaller candles, representing our shared responsibility and hopes for the future. Following the service, everyone was invited to continue the occasion over refreshments at the Town Hall

He said "I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended my Civic Service, and to all those who helped make the occasion possible and so special. It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces come together, both at the service and afterwards at the Town Hall. The day was a wonderful reflection of the strong community spirit we are so fortunate to share in Llangollen, and a reminder of the importance of coming together and supporting one another."

Mae Maer y Dref yn estyn ei ddiolch yn dilyn ei Wasanaeth Dinesig
Mae Maer y Dref wedi estyn ei ddiolch diffuant i bawb a fynychodd ei Wasanaeth Dinesig, a gynhaliwyd yn Eglwys Sant Collen.
Fel rhan o’r gwasanaeth, gwnaeth y Maer ymrwymiad i’r dref cyn goleuo’r Gannwyll Gymunedol fel symbol o obaith, undod ac ymrwymiad ar y cyd. Yna, ymunodd aelodau o sefydliadau lleol ac aelodau o’r gymuned i oleuo canhwyllau bach, gan symboleiddio ein cyfrifoldeb ar y cyd a’n gobaith ar gyfer y dyfodol. Yn dilyn y gwasanaeth, gwahoddwyd pawb i barhau â’r achlysur dros luniaeth yn Neuadd y Dref.
Dywedodd: “Hoffwn estyn fy niolch o galon i bawb a fynychodd fy Ngwasanaeth Dinesig ac i bawb a a wnaeth fy nghynorthwyo i wneud y diwrnod yn bosibl ac mor arbennig. Roedd yn hyfryd gweld wynebau cyfarwydd ac wynebau newydd yn dod ynghyd, yn ystod y gwasanaeth ac wedyn yn Neuadd y Dref. Roedd y diwrnod yn adlewyrchiad gwych o’r ymdeimlad cryf o gymuned yr ydym mor ffodus o’i gael yn Llangollen, ac yn ein hatgoffa pa mor bwysig yw dod ynghyd a chefnogi ein gilydd.”

We think the flowers on the Bridge and in the planters in the Town car parks and Castle street are looking especially lovely. Thanks to Tom from TLJ Services for keeping them looking so good, despite the hot dry weather we've been having.

Llangollen Town Council Community Grants Scheme Temporarily Closed

Llangollen Town Council is proud to highlight the continued success and value of its Community Grants Scheme, which plays a vital role in supporting local organisations and enhancing community life across the town. The scheme has provided meaningful assistance to a wide range of groups, enabling projects and activities that benefit residents and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive community.

Llangollen Town Council appreciates the skills, experience and expertise which the voluntary and community sector holds and recognises the help that organisations can give to support the Council in achieving its aims and fulfilling its priorities for residents.

The Town Council offers Community Support Grants to fund projects and activities that are important to the local community. These awards must benefit members of the community in general and are limited to the geographic area of the Llangollen Town Council electoral boundaries. Examples of organisations supported include charitable organisations, community groups, sports clubs, art and music groups, advice services and business organisations.

Applications are normally received on an annual rolling programme within the allocated budget, with a maximum grant award of ÂŁ2,000. The strong level of interest this year reflects both the importance of the scheme and the positive impact it has across Llangollen. However, due to the receipt of a significant number of high-value applications, Llangollen Town Council advises that the Community Grants Scheme is now temporarily closed to new applications. This will allow the Council to carefully consider all submissions currently within the system and ensure that funding is allocated fairly and effectively.

Should further monies become available later in the year, the Town Council may reopen the scheme for additional applications. Any updates will be communicated in due course.

The Council thanks all applicants and community organisations for their continued dedication to improving life in Llangollen and looks forward to continuing to support local initiatives in the future.
