Did you know that you can now visit the Roman Mine without a tour?

Visit the mine yard for a fob, and you can scan yourself through the gate to discover the rich history of the Welsh landscape.

Look a little closer and you can still see the pick marks in the rock from around 2,000 years ago.

Did you know that dogs on leads are welcome to explore Dolaucothi? Dogs can go everywhere except into the Victorian and Level Mine.

There's plenty of sniffs and space for them to enjoy a stroll in the mineyard, take a walk up to the top of the hill and then explore inside the Roman mine itself!

We ask all visitors with dogs to visit responsibly and following our Canine Code.

Step back in time and learn more about the Romans at Dolaucothi and the surrounding area.

Catch a talk about life at the fort in the Roman era, have your name written in Roman script, visit a coin mint and a cobbler, watch a demonstration of ancient surveying methods, learn about the medical knowledge and surgical practices of the day and, of course, see plenty of military action!

The Legio VIII Augusta MGV Roman Living History Society will perform over the whole weekend, bringing the distant past to boisterous life with this fascinating insight into Roman lives and times.
