Join Trad From Scratch, a FREE 12-session beginner programme at Lochgelly Centre where you can learn violin, ukulele or guitar through traditional Scottish and Irish music.

🎻 Paid Opportunity - Assistant Violin Tutor Wanted! 🎻

We're looking for an Assistant Violin Tutor to support our Musical Instrument Library 'Trad From Scratch' programme soon to be running here at the Lochgelly Centre.

💷 £25.20 per session

The project, supported by We Make Music Scotland, introduces adults and young people (14+) to traditional Scottish and Irish music. No previous experience is needed from participants - you'll help our Lead Tutors inspire complete beginners.

We're looking for someone who is:
- 18+
- An amateur or early-career violinist
- Around Grade 5 standard (or equivalent)
- Friendly, patient and enthusiastic

🗓 Saturday mornings, 11am-1pm

Two 6-week blocks running from....
- 29 August to 3 October and
- 24 October to 28 November.

To apply: Send a short video (maximum 2 minutes) introducing yourself and playing an unaccompanied tune in any style to [email protected] by Midday, Wednesday 12 August.

A quick heads-up 👋

All OnFife venues will be closed on Monday 20 July for the Fife public holiday.

That includes our libraries, museums, galleries and theatres across Fife, so if you're planning a visit, please keep this in mind.

The Summer Holidays are here which means it's the perfect to sign up for the Fife Reading Challenge!

This year you set your own six reading goals which can be anything from reading a chapter a night to sharing a picture book with a friend!

AND everyone that takes part in the challenge will be entered into our amazing prize draw where you could win some fantastic prizes.

Not only that but this year the whole family can get involved as young people and adults have their own challenge this year!

🏖️ Monday 20 July is a public holiday, and we’ll be closed.

Afraid there’ll be no boot-scootin’ next week—💔 The dance floor will just have to cope without our impressive moves (and the occasional wrong turn 🤠).
Apologies for any inconvenience, and don’t worry—we’ll be back soon – change of day - Wednesday 15 July at 2pm, ready to yee-haw and step-tap our way through it all again. Until then, feel free to practice at home… neighbours permitting! 🕺💃
