Monday night is drill night. Firefighters attend a drill night every week to maintain their skills and learn new procedures to keep their communities safe. Last Monday it was Breathing Apparatus (BA). A great effort by the crew. 🚒

Improve your driving skill for FREE

On Sunday 19th April 2026 between 1000 and 1500, the Institute of Advanced Motorists will be running a Road Smart Event in Helensburgh with the aim of sharing knowledge with drivers and riders and improving road safety.
The event has been organised by Police Scotland and will involve IAM RoadSmart observers, Police Scotland Response and Road Policing Class 1 drivers, and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
You will have the opportunity to:

🚒 Wholetime Firefighter Recruitment Engagement Session – Oban

With the SFRS Wholetime Firefighter recruitment process due to open soon, an engagement session will be held at Oban Community Fire Station on Saturday 21st March at 1pm.

This is a great opportunity to hear directly from serving firefighters, ask the questions you want answered, and get a clear understanding of the role, training, fitness requirements and how the recruitment process works.

If you are considering applying to become a wholetime firefighter with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in the upcoming recruitment campaign, we’d encourage you to come along and find out more about what the role involves and how to prepare for the selection process.

Doddie Aid/Firefighters Charity car wash at Oban Fire Station!

Doddie Aid is a way for us all to help Doddie and the Foundation in their quest to find better treatments for MND.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are continuing to support that quest and have gathered a team of (willing / nervous!) cyclists who are ready for the challenge. They will also have the help of a support team to see them through the miles and keep them going.
The team is made up of firefighters from various ranks and also includes volunteer on call firefighters from the East and West Dunbartonshire and Argyll and Bute area along with a new addition to the team from MacKenzie Construction to help us hit our target.

Day 1: Melrose to Leeds

Day 2: Leeds to Gloucester

Day 3: Gloucester to Pembroke (overnight ferry to Ireland)

Day 4: Rosslare to Dublin
