🚨 Drill Night Monday 24th August 🚨

Lochgoilhead crew carried out an open water drill this week utilising the light weight portable pump to draw water from a river to feed the main pump. Firefighters were able to practice their branch techniques also.

🚒💨 On Saturday, 22nd August, Lochgoilhead Community Fire Station visited Carrick Farm Shop and Cafe in Carrick Castle, Loch Goil.

☕🐓🦙We would like to extend our gratitude to Carrick Farm Café for hosting the community event, where our team provided a comprehensive Fire Safety talk, CPR, and Defibrillator awareness session.

The presentation covered essential topics such as household fire safety, cooking and electrical safety, lithium-ion batteries, fire escape routes, and night-time routines. Utilising our CPR mannequins, we demonstrated the proper procedures for responding to a non-responsive casualty, including CPR and defibrillator use on adults, children, and infants.

We also familiarised attendees with Carrick Castle's defibrillator and provided hands-on training with our defibrillator pads. We appreciate the participation of all attendees and invite residents of Carrick Castle, Lochgoilhead, and surrounding communities to contact us via Facebook for a Home Fire Safety Visit.

🚨🚨 Lochgoilhead Community Fire Station Drill Night 17/08/2026 🚨🚨

During the drill night, the crew conducted a comprehensive exercise utilizing all pumping equipment on the appliance, including the main pump, lightweight portable pump, and stirrup pump. It is essential for crews to be well-versed in all aspects of equipment operation, including their functionality in various scenarios and troubleshooting techniques to address any issues that may arise. This ensures a swift and effective response to any incident we are dispatched to.

We are actively recruiting for on-call volunteer firefighters and to continue to protect our communities, we need people who are over the age of 18 and have a good level of fitness. Please come along to the fire station on Monday evenings from 1830hrs and have chat with the crew about what it is like to be a on-call volunteer firefighter. 🚒💨

🚨🚨Drill night🚨🚨

Monday 20th July Lochgoilhead Community Fire Station travelled to Dunoon Community Fire Station for Road Traffic Collision (RTC) training. Using our new hydraulic combi tool to effectively remove a door and create space when extricating casualties. The exercise also included stabilisation of a vehicle, glass management and casualty care.

Practicing these skills ensures that the crew skills are up-to-date when we have to use them in a real incident.

If you are interested in helping keep our communities safe, we are recruiting! Come along and chat and a cuppa with the crew and find out what it involves and what it is like being an On-call volunteer firefighter 🚒💨💨

Lochgoilhead Community Fire Station had a fantastic day at the Carrick Fayre on Sunday 19th July! ☀️

The sun was shining, the atmosphere was wonderful, and it was great to see so many people visiting the Fayre — and stopping by our stall.

We were delighted to offer advice on home fire safety, water safety, outdoor safety, and recruitment opportunities within the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

A particular highlight was being able to show off the fabulous new asset for the Carrick Castle and Lochgoilhead communities — our brand-new fire appliance and equipment. 🚒

Thank you to everyone who came along, chatted with us, and helped make the day such a success. We look forward to seeing you all again at future community events!
