⛔️🚌246 Sanquhar Tolbooth Road Closure🚌⛔️

There is a road closure at Sanquhar Tolbooth from the 1st of June for 6 weeks.
Our bus will be diverting past the TolBooth onto South Lochan Street then onto Mckendrick Drive and vise versa for the reverse journey. There will be a traffic light system in place with parking restrictions on both South Lochan Street & Mckendrick Drive. We have been assured this will be kept clear to allow us access. We will continue to run our current timetable however please be mindful of potential delays due to the ongoing works. We do not plan on reducing the size capacity of the vehicle as we know this would not meet the public demand.

❌🚌 ROAD CLOSURE ERNESPIE ROAD 🚌❌

There is a road closure on the Ernespie Road from 18th May - 22nd May 2026 between 9am & 3pm.

This will affect the 501. We are being diverted down the A75 then turning onto Abercromby Road then up to the Swimming Pool. Same diversion in reverse.

Between these times we will be unable to serve Castle Douglas Health Centre or Tesco.

❌ 431 GATEHOUSE OF FLEET ❌

We are really struggling to serve anywhere in Gatehouse of Fleet due to the cycling event.

The bus is currently turning at Nursing Home in Gatehouse of Fleet on Garden Street. This is the only place we are able to turn/collect passengers from. It is unsafe for the bus to continue up the High Street due to the volume of cyclists, double parked cars & no place to turn.

D&G Council can confirm positive news for passengers using the 501 service between Dumfries, Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright. Following further discussions with McCalls Coaches, the 501 has been secured and will continue to operate to its current timetable from August, ensuring no reduction in services.

🚌 246 SCHOOL BUS - AUGUST 2026 🚌

We would like to confirm that we will continue to run the second 246 bus from Dumfries to Wallacehall and back on school days when the schools go back in August 2026 after the Summer Holiday.

This service will be operated on a fully commercial basis which means that it will be unsubsidised and not under any contract.

We hope that this provides some clarity and peace of mind for everyone that has been involved in this.

Today we teamed up with Joanne from RHET & Chloe from Ark Vet Centre and transported P3’s from Lockerbie Primary to visit the new De Laval robotic milkers at Dryfesdale Gate Farm. The children enjoyed themselves learning how the animals are cared for as part of their learning topic “Food Production”🐄🚜.

🚌Service Bus Driving Positions Available🚌

We currently have a service bus driving position available based between our Castle Douglas, Lochmaben & Lockerbie yards.

We can create a working pattern to suit as many or as little days as desired however Saturday on/Saturday off. One Sunday in Seven. These are non negotiable. Good rates of pay. £14.30 Standard Rate. £15.30 Backshift & Sundays. Overtime is paid at time & half (working a day extra than contracted too).

🚌 385 Dumfries to Annan 🚌

There has been an accident on the A75 at Mouswald, our 385 bus is currently stuck in the traffic. Once the traffic is moving again we will post an update.

🚌246 ROAD CLOSURES 🚌
There is due to be a road closure on Sanquhar High Street for work on the Tollbooth from 1st of June 2026 for 6 weeks.
At present we are working with our local MP's and D&G Council to try and get this closure changed. We are aware the school children have exams during this period and how much added stress this is causing not to mention the impact on local business and the wider community. We don't have answers as of yet but we are working hard in the background to get this changed.

There is also due to be a road closure in Sanquhar High Street outside Spar from 9.30am on 11th May 2026 - 7am on 12th May 2026. We are in contact with Scottish Water to confirm if we will gain access through this closure.

As soon as we have an update for either of the above road closures we will post an update.
