💡 HOW COULD WE MAKE LODDON CLEANER AND TIDIER?

South Norfolk Council has made up to £15,000 of funding available to support a one-off project to improve the cleanliness and appearance of public spaces in Loddon.

Before deciding what we might apply for, Loddon Town Council would like to hear from residents.

The funding could potentially be used for things such as:

🗑️ Additional litter bins
♻️ Dual-purpose litter and recycling bins
🐕 Dog waste bins
🚬 Cigarette butt bins
🌿 Equipment or infrastructure to support community litter picking
🚮 Screening or bin stores to improve untidy waste collection areas
🪧 Signage aimed at reducing littering and encouraging people to look after our public spaces
✨ Other one-off improvements that would help make Loddon cleaner and tidier

🚧 TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE – HIGH BUNGAY ROAD, LODDON 🚧

Norfolk County Council has issued a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order affecting C395 High Bungay Road, from its junction with Low Bungay Road for approximately 75 metres northwards.

📅 Anticipated closure:
Monday 7 September to Wednesday 9 September 2026
The closure is required to facilitate new fibre network installation works, being carried out by CityFibre.

⚠️ Although the works are currently expected to take place from 7–9 September, the road may remain closed or restricted until 21 October 2026 if the works are not completed within the anticipated period.

🚶 Pedestrian access will be maintained.

🚗 Vehicular access to properties and premises within the closed section will be permitted where signs indicate that access is possible.

🛣️ Alternative Route
The signed alternative route will be via:
High Bungay Road → High Street → Church Plain → Bridge Street → George Lane → A146 Loddon Bypass
Please allow extra time for your journey and follow all temporary traffic signs and diversions.

⚠️ Please note: Anyone who contravenes the road closure may be guilty of an offence and could face a maximum fine of £1,000 and/or endorsement.
If the start date is delayed, the revised start date will be displayed on site in advance.

Are you looking to organise an event or special project in our market town to help attract more visitors?

Local communities and businesses are invited to put forward creative projects that will increase footfall and length of visits.

Love Your Market Town (LYMT) funding offers between £1,000 and £5,000 to town councils, local groups and businesses for events, town trails, themed festivals and other activities that are designed to inspire people to visit and shop in their local towns.

The scheme is supported by Norfolk County Council and the district councils. Applicants have until 31 August to submit their initial ideas.

📢 Highways Footway Repairs in Loddon

Norfolk County Council Highways Department will be carrying out footway repairs on Church Plain, Loddon (C554) on Sunday 23 August.

🚧 The works will take place under a road closure on Church Plain, from approximately 20 metres north of the junction with Church Plain (U76502), extending south for around 40 metres.

🏡 While contractors will do their best to maintain access to properties during the works, residents may experience some temporary delays when entering or leaving their properties due to the nature of the repairs.

🏠 Do you know of an empty property in Loddon?

South Norfolk Council has a service for reporting homes that are standing empty.

Empty properties can sometimes become overgrown, fall into poor condition or attract antisocial behaviour, crime and fly-tipping.

When an empty property is reported, the Council will investigate and can contact the owner to offer advice and support to help bring the property back into use.

🚧 TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE – CHURCH PLAIN, LODDON 🚧

Norfolk County Council has issued a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (STRO14938) affecting C554 Church Plain, in Loddon.

The road will be temporarily closed to vehicles (except for pedestrian access) to allow Norfolk County Council to carry out kerb replacement works.

📅 Anticipated closure: 23 August 2026
⚠️ The closure may need to remain in place until 4 October 2026 if the works take longer than anticipated.

🚗 Alternative route:
Bridge Street → George Lane → A146 Loddon Bypass → High Bungay Road → High Street → Church Plain

✅ Vehicular access to properties within the closed section will be permitted where signs indicate that access is possible.

📍 If the start date is delayed, the revised date will be displayed on site in advance.

Drivers are asked to follow the signed diversion route and allow extra time for their journeys.

Norfolk County Council has issued a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order affecting C395 High Bungay Road, from its junction with Leman Grove to its junction with Kittens Lane, in Loddon.

The road will be temporarily closed to vehicles (except for pedestrian access) to allow Openreach to carry out blockage clearance and ducting works.

📅 Anticipated closure: 24–28 August 2026
⚠️ The closure may need to remain in place until 9 October 2026 if the works take longer than anticipated.

🚗 Alternative route:
High Bungay Road → Beccles Road → A146 Loddon Bypass

✅ Access into Davey Place will be maintained.
Vehicular access to properties within the closed section will also be permitted where signs indicate that access is possible.

📍 If the start date is delayed, the revised date will be displayed on site in advance.

Drivers are asked to follow the signed diversion route and allow extra time for their journeys.
