UPDATE from Cllr Husband- I am going to ride to Morcombe (with a small group) on Friday 26th (110 miles) then ride back on the Saturday/ Sunday with the larger group. So doubling the miles and challenge!

Cllr Janet Husband is set to participate in the Coast to Coast cycling challenge. Below, you will find a statement from Cllr Husband along with a link should you wish to make a direct donation to Cystic Fibrosis UK.

After dedicating two years to adopting a healthier lifestyle, supporting local charities, and making conscious choices, I'm still driven to take on new challenges that allow me to support others through physical feats. In 2026, I'll embark on a demanding 120-mile coast-to-coast cycle challenge, spanning two days (June 27th and 28th) from Morecambe to Redcar. This year, I've chosen to support the LTC Mayor's charity, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, a cause close to Cl Hodgson’s heart and one that Cl Hodgson has tirelessly championed for years. Since January, I've been rigorously training, covering over 1,200 miles to prepare for this grueling test of endurance, which includes both physical and mental preparation. I'm grateful for any sponsorship, and forms will be available in local shops and the Town Hall for those who wish to contribute to this worthy cause and continue the support LTC Mayor has devoted himself to over the years.

Food waste collections are now taking place across Redcar and Cleveland.

Every household now has a weekly food waste collection on the same day as your other bins. Your small kitchen caddy catches everything day-to-day meat, veg peelings, leftovers, tea bags, and your outdoor bin goes out weekly.
