Back in March, the Liberal Democrats said they needed more money to fix our roads. This month, after months of Conservative scrutiny, they have finally admitted why.
At the Budget in February, heralded by the Liberal Democrat Administration at the time, official Council figures reveal that they cut funding for the Highways Department by £5.7m. That's £5.7m less money being spent to fix our roads and pavements.
We have said all along that we agree more money is needed to fix the roads. But the Liberal Democrats wouldn't listen. Preferring spin over debate - but you cannot fix the roads on press releases alone.
Our Conservative team will continue to do the hard work holding the Lib Dems to account to the promises they made to you.
