See Betts Park in a different light by joining a free ParkBathe at 11am on Saturday 10th October. Meet at the Anerley Road entrance near the Outdoor Gym. π³
What is ParkBathe ? Think Park run, but with slow mindful walking.
Our project is inspired by forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, a practice that began in Japan in the 1980s. It isnβt about exercise or getting your steps in. Itβs about slowing down and using your senses to pay attention to the natural world around you. Research suggests that spending time this way in green spaces can help reduce stress, support mood and give an often-overloaded mind a chance to settle.
Many of our Walk Leaders first came to us as participants. After returning to sessions again and again, they became so enthusiastic about the difference these simple walks made that they trained to lead walks themselves and we now have a team of 30+ operating in 14 parks!
So come and join John and Anna for a free, slow, guided and wonderfully serene wander through Betts Park. Youβll explore pockets and corners you may have walked past a hundred times before, noticing shafts of light through the trees, changing colours, tiny details and wonderfully gnarly bark.
