Today is Anti-Slavery Day. πŸ”Ž

Young people leaving care can be targeted for exploitation, often by someone who seems like a friend at first.

Signs to look out for:
β€’ New phones, clothes or money with no explanation
β€’ Going missing or travelling to unfamiliar places
β€’ A new, older "friend" who controls where they go
β€’ Being secretive, anxious or withdrawn

If something doesn't feel right, speak up. You could change a young person's life.

We're looking for dedicated support workers to join our team at Aim Support Services. πŸ’™

Every day, our team helps young care leavers aged 18–21 take their first steps into independent adult life. Some of the biggest changes come from the smallest everyday moments: helping someone plan their first weekly shop, set up their bills, get to college on time, or simply have someone to talk to.

We support each young person according to their own needs, and we're looking for people who can be a positive, reliable presence in their lives.

What you'll do:
β€’ Support young people day to day with life skills like budgeting, cooking and managing a home
β€’ Help them settle into and keep their tenancy
β€’ Encourage education, training and wellbeing
β€’ Work closely with Personal Advisers and local authorities

What we're looking for:
β€’ Patience, kindness and good boundaries
β€’ Reliability, because young people need people they can count on
β€’ Experience with young people, care leavers or supported living is a plus, but the right attitude matters most

For 17 years I was a foster carer. I watched young people grow up in my home, and I saw how hard it was for them when they turned 18 and had to manage on their own. πŸ’™

Rent, bills, cooking, college, loneliness. Most of us still had family to call at that age. Many care leavers don't.

That's why I started Aim Support Services. We give young people aged 18–21 a safe home and real, everyday support while they learn the skills for independent life.

Every young person deserves someone in their corner. 🏑

Moving into your first tenancy is a big step for anyone. For a young person leaving care, it’s often the first time managing bills, cooking, and a front door of their own β€” all at once. That’s where our support workers come in. 🏠
