APPG Gaps in Support

APPG Gaps in Support The All Party Parliamentary Group dedicated to ensuring that gaps in financial support are found, recognised and solved in the UK.

Gaps in Support All Party Parliamentary Group is the largest APPG in history. Our membership of MPs covers all political parties and parts of the UK. We aim to find solutions for those who have been excluded from Government Support Schemes during the Coronavirus pandemic, as well as ensure that lessons are learned to improve the UK Government’s response in the future. All-Party Parliamentary Group

Nearly two million people have been unable to work for at least six months after losing their jobs in the pandemic or being placed on furlough, according to the Resolution Foundation.

One in five of these people fear they will remain jobless or their roles will vanish when the taxpayer-funded furlough scheme stops on April 30.

A report by the Resolution Foundation estimates that 1.9 million people were unable to work for at least six months after losing their jobs or being furloughed during the pandemic.

"It takes courage and determination to start a business, and even more courage to expand a business through investment and hard work. We cannot penalise these people with such an arbitrary cap that does not incentivise the expansion of British business."

A group of MPs is warning that 200,000 business owners have been placed under unimaginable strain after being unfairly excluded from Government support during the pandemic.
