INVESTMENT IN YOUNG PEOPLE, STRATEGIC IMPERATIVE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: AMBASSADOR ABDULRAZAQ

The First Lady of Kwara State, Founder Ajike People Center and Chairperson Nigeria Governors Spouses Forum Her Excellency Ambassador Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq has on Saturday 22nd of August described investment in young people as strategic imperative for sustainable development.

The First Lady made this known at the 62nd anniversary of National Youth Council of Nigeria Diaspora held at the Hilton, London Kesington, United Kingdom.

Ambassador Abdulrazaq at the event highlighted the effort of the Government in fostering youth inclusion through the not too young to run legislation and Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the appointment of young people in to oversee the affairs of State.

The First Lady at the event shared the Kwara experience in promoting the inclusion of youths in the cabinet of the Governor and across all government institutions citing the speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, the Commissioner for works, the Commissioner for Environment, the youngest female law maker in the state as the youngest in the country amongst many others

The First Lady also cited the prominent inclusion of young people in the state cabinet and the legislature adding that the commitment to further the cause of youths informed the creation of the Ilorin Innovation Hub, the Sugar factory Film Studio and the Kwara Garment Factory in the State.

The First Lady however commended the National Youth Council of Nigeria Diaspora for continuing to promote the welfare and well- being of all Nigerian youths in the UK and foster national unity, coexistence as well as promoting Nigerian youths’ participation in national and global development.

The First Lady was later presented with an award of Excellence in Youth and Women Development in recognition of her outstanding leadership, exceptional commitment and remarkable contribution to women and youth development at the event.
