In October, we were delighted to host an intimate panel discussion in our latest show apartment designed by in partnership with & , moderated by Fiona McCarthy.
Craft and its transformative power from a cultural and community level were central to the insightful discussion, with Tim Butcher and Rosemary McGuigan, founders of Fromental and Orior respectively, discussing the importance of makers and passed-down craft in their trades. Talking of their workshop in Ireland, Rosemary shared - ‘there is nothing more joyous in life than seeing people make things with their hands’. Tim discussed the source of his inspiration being found in the most unexpected places, often looking back to antique books before reimagining designs into a contemporary wallpaper print.
Joyce Wang Studio’s ethos of working with artisans is clear to see within this awe-inspiring home with bespoke pieces, each with a story, around every corner.
‘Our work would be meaningless without the people make the items. It transforms a home from the two dimensional’
Joyce also gave the guests an insight into her earlier ambitions to work in the film industry - but how the home and ‘sets’ she creates now are designed to be the backdrop for many treasured memories to come.
