🌊 is proud to support future leaders tackling the world’s most urgent challenges, including climate change and ocean conservation.

Take Khianna Lee who has contributed to efforts to restore Jamaica's marine populations and is now building on that experience through an MSc in Marine Conservation at the University of Plymouth.

With the UK's commitment to working globally to protect 30% of land and ocean by 2030, scholars like Khianna are helping to turn that ambition into real progress.

‘By integrating international perspectives with global expertise, I hope to contribute to a more globalised response to climate change and fishing pressures, paving the way for a resilient marine ecosystem in Jamaica.’ 🌍

'The network has connected me with inspiring scholars from across the globe, giving us the chance to exchange ideas on policy, development challenges, and our shared aspirations.'

Thanks to an iibgroup-funded Chevening Scholarship, Ahmed Omar Robleh is gaining the knowledge, experience, and global networks to support infrastructure projects that improve lives and create opportunities for vulnerable communities.

He recognises that good infrastructure is about more than just buildings and roads, it's about people. If we want to build a more sustainable future, construction projects must put communities first 🌍

For scholar Dr Abdul Razzaque, studying at the University of Birmingham has helped him explore how climate change affects public health, especially in vulnerable communities 💡

‘Through my course, I have strengthened my understanding of environmental health and how research can shape practical solutions for vulnerable communities.

Coming from Sindh [in Pakistan], where many communities have experienced floods, heatwaves, and limited healthcare access, this learning feels very personal.

My Chevening experience has given me more than academic knowledge. It has given me the confidence to apply what I've learned back home and contribute to more inclusive, climate-resilient public health systems in Pakistan.’

Last week, scholars led a policy dialogue event at the University of Bristol, shaping their plans for a more sustainable future 🌍

For Chidiebere Nsofor, who convened the event with support from fellow Cheveners, it was an opportunity to combine global insight with honest discussions about the challenges of climate action.

'Seeing over 100 scholars and policy and climate experts come together to shape climate justice leaves me very optimistic and convinced that the next-generation of Global South policymakers are ready to turn commitment into action. We aren't waiting for a seat at the table, we're building it' 👏

' brought us together and we chose to become best friends along the way!' 💙

Chevening scholar Roaa Ahmed is making the most of the opportunities available as part of a Chevening Scholarship. She recently visited the historic town of Bath with fellow Egyptian scholars, learning more about UK culture and traditions with her new Chevening network.

'When I travel with fellow Cheveners, we're not just sightseeing but gaining new perspectives. Someone will make a connection to something back home in Egypt or ask a question that reframes what I've experienced and sparks a deep conversation about cities, cultures and ourselves.'

Studying outside London on a Chevening Scholarship offers scholars the chance to experience different parts of the UK, all while building friendships that last a lifetime along the way 🎓
