Painter class enjoyed an exciting science demonstration outside in the playground! The children watched what happened when Miss Canham added Mentos to Diet Coke and made predictions about what they thought would happen before seeing the amazing fizzy eruption. 🌋🥤

We talked about reactions, bubbles, and how gases can create pressure to make the liquid shoot up into the air. The children showed fantastic curiosity and loved seeing science come to life through hands-on learning.

Ask your child if they can explain what happened and tell you their favourite part of the experiment!

Our KS2 children attended a wonderful Quad Kids event on Friday at the Athletics Track in Lea Valley. They took part in a range of events, including long jump, long-distance running, howler throwing and sprinting. The children did a fantastic job, showing great enthusiasm, determination and teamwork throughout the day. We had an exciting time in Nursery today for Lads’ Day — a special opportunity for the male members of our families to come in and spend quality time with the children.

Together, they created beautiful wind chimes using a variety of different materials. The children worked enthusiastically alongside their loved ones, making their wind chimes colourful and shiny so they would catch and reflect the light.

It was such a wholesome and enjoyable session, and it was wonderful to see the joy and excitement on the children’s faces as they created and explored together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the session so special.

Whale Class Writing Success! 🦁✏️

Whale Class have produced some excellent writing this week based on the literacy book One Day on Our Blue Planet: In the Savannah by Ella Bailey.

The children have been writing about a young lion cub's start to life in the Savannah, using the story as inspiration for their own creative work. Their learning objective was to maintain the past tense throughout their writing, and they worked incredibly hard to apply this skill successfully.

We are very proud of the effort, creativity, and progress the children have shown in their writing this week. Well done, Whale Class!

Today, we are sharing the last of our Class Artist displays! 🎨✨

We have felt so much pride in showcasing these wonderful creations with you all. If you would like to revisit our previous displays, you can find them on our Instagram account.

These final eight displays represent classes from Reception right through to Year 6. It has become part of our school's DNA for every class to learn about a different artist each year and to be named after artists from a variety of eras and genres. This approach helps to inspire creativity, broaden artistic knowledge, and celebrate the diverse world of art.

We are also sharing some fantastic memories of the occasions when several of our class artists generously gave their time to visit the school. They spoke to the children about their artwork, inspirations, artistic styles, and what art means to them, creating truly memorable experiences for everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all of our class artists who came in to spend time with the children. Your generosity, enthusiasm, and willingness to share your experiences made a lasting impact on our pupils. The opportunity to meet and learn from a real artist is something the children will remember forever, and we are incredibly grateful for the inspiration you have given them.

Graham Class have been putting their Maths skills into practice while planning to make chocolate cupcakes. 🧁

The children worked hard to calculate exactly how much of each ingredient they would need for their recipe. They then used their budgeting skills to work out how much it would cost to buy the correct quantities of ingredients. Over the next couple of weeks, they will be ordering everything they need and preparing to put their plans into action by making their delicious chocolate cupcakes.

Some of our Year 5 children took part in the Waltham Forest Pentathlon this week. They represented the school brilliantly, behaving beautifully throughout the event and giving their all in every activity. There were lots of exciting events to take part in, including basketball and bowling. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were thrilled to receive their medals at the end of the day. Collins Class have been learning how to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes. Using mini clocks, Mrs Plume gave the children different times to display on their clocks. This also helped them develop their understanding of using 'past' and 'to' when telling the time. During the second half of the lesson, the children were given a worksheet with a mixture of clock faces showing different times and times written in words. They had to match each clock to the correct written time.

Sparrow Class have been working on the school laptops to learn how to create music, focusing on rhythm and tempo. Using Purple Mash Busy Beats, the children explored different musical patterns and experimented with creating their own pieces of music.

The children thoroughly enjoyed this project and were excited to develop new musical skills. Each child wore headphones to help them concentrate on composing their own unique piece. At the end of the session, they listened back to their creations, and it felt just like having their very own silent disco! 🎵💻🎧✨
