Britain essentially subsidises immigrants who cannot support themselves, so they can live in one of the world's most expensive cities, while forcing out British-born people who cannot afford expensive private rents.

For 25 years, Migration Watch UK has argued that mass migration at this scale is not what the British public wants and that its consequences are being felt across housing, public services, and communities the length and breadth of this country.

This week, we published polling that proves it.

1 in 3 Britons chose “very negative” when asked about the prospect of White British people falling below 50 per cent of the UK population by the 2060s. That is the most intensely felt response we recorded in the entire survey. Stronger than concern about housing. Stronger than concern about crime.

61 per cent say net migration of nearly 3 million between 2019 and 2024 was too high. That view is held by majorities in every region of Great Britain. Across every policy area we tested - housing, the NHS, schools, crime, national culture - the public said migration has done more harm than good.

Politicians have spent years treating this as a subject too sensitive to discuss. These numbers show the cost of that silence.

Since 2020, visas issued to non-British nationals have overwhelmingly gone to Asian countries - specifically, India and Pakistan.

No country can absorb population growth on this level without serious consequences for housing, public services, and wages. Our NHS is stretched. Our housing waiting lists grow longer by the day. Yet successive governments have treated mass immigration as an inevitability rather than a policy choice.

It IS a policy choice, and one the British public have repeatedly rejected at the ballot box.

The FCDO advises against travel to Iran and Afghanistan due to the high risk of terror attacks, yet the Home Office operates a de facto open borders policy for unvetted Afghan/Iranian migrants.

On May 1st 2026, a small boat migrant who had been in the UK for just 16 days was convicted of terror offences after attempting to break into the Israeli embassy while carrying two knives.

The small boats crisis is a national security crisis.

The Office for National Statistics projects Britain's population will surge to over 73 million by 2035. Almost all of this growth will come from migration.

All these people will need housing, healthcare and utilities. To keep infrastructure at its 2025 per capita levels, Britain will need to:

- build over 2 million new homes
- fund 150 new hospitals
- generate an additional 21 terawatt-hours of electricity annually

Britain's infrastructure is already buckling under the strain of mass migration. If the projections are correct and millions more people migrate to Britain over the next decade, standards of living will get worse.

We simply cannot afford mass migration.

Yesterday, it was confirmed over 197,000 small boat migrants have been intercepted crossing the Channel since the UK government began tracking landings in 2018.

While the UK government refuses to publish estimates of the cost of a small boat migrant, a study from the Netherlands projected the net cost of asylum migration averages €475,000 per immigrant (approximately £410,000).

And, according to Migration Observatory, just 3% of small boat migrants who arrived in Britain between 2018 and 2024 have been removed.

Taking the known costs and removal rate into account, the small boat migrants currently in Britain could cost almost £80 billion over their lifetimes.

To put that into perspective, that's enough to repair every single pothole in England and Wales, four times over, and still have change left over to buy a new Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier for the Royal Navy.

Our government is choosing to make us poorer and weaker, because it refuses to properly enforce our border.
