Tooting's St George's Hospital is currently hosting an exhibition showcasing the history of the hospital. Using artworks from the St George's Art and Heritage Collection, and items generously reproduced from the City St George's Archives and Special Collection, this exhibition traces the history of the hospital from its origins at Hyde Park Corner to where it stands today

This project is part of the "Our Hospital: conserving, curating and responding to St George's Art and Heritage Collection' project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and is a three-year project focusing on conserving, cataloguing, reinterpreting and digitising St George's Hospital's unique Art and Heritage Collection so it can be enjoyed by many more people.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund believes heritage should be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. As the largest funder for the UK's heritage they are dedicated to supporting projects that connect people and communities to heritage.

City St George's Archives and Special Collections preserves records, rare books, artefacts and artworks relating to City St George's, University of London. The history of St George's medical school is closely linked with the hospital, and students have benefited from the close relationship since 1733. The Archive is open to all by appointment. For more information please email [email protected]

The exhibition is in collaboration with Arts St George's, part of St George's Hospital Charity, is the arts programme for St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. They provide opportunities for patients, visitors, staff and the wider community to engage with creative activities and enjoy cultural experiences, helping improve the experience of being in hospital.

To find out more and to support their work, visit stgeorgeshospitalcharity.org.uk/arts

You can view the exhibition in the main corridor on the ground floor of The Lanesborough Wing.

There's just under a month to go until we host our gesh CARE Awards and we are very excited.

Now in its third year the awards celebrate the outstanding colleagues and teams who make a big difference across St George's, Epsom and St Helier.

The awards are not funded by the NHS as they're sponsored by St George’s Hospital Charity, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity and generous local businesses.

The winners in all categories will be announced at an awards ceremony on 23 September.
