Today, we commemorate the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the 1968 Invasion and the subsequent occupation by Warsaw Pact troops. This day is dedicated to honoring all those whose lives were tragically affected by the events of August 1968. We do not forget. 🕊️

🇨🇿 Today, at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London, we presented consular commissions to the Honorary Consuls of the Czech Republic for Peterborough and Gibraltar.

Peter Torák will continue serving as Honorary Consul in Peterborough for another term. We thank him for his dedication and valuable work to date, and we are pleased that he will continue to support the Czech community and contribute to the development of Czech-British relations.

At the same time, we welcomed the new Honorary Consul for Gibraltar, Stanislav Čech. We are delighted that the Honorary Consulate in Gibraltar will once again be active, further expanding the Czech Republic’s network of representation in the region.

Honorary Consuls play an important role as a link between the Czech Republic, Czech citizens living in the region, and local institutions. They help us stay connected with our citizens in places where the Czech Republic does not have a permanent consular presence and support the development of Czech-British relations in the broadest sense.

We would like to thank both Honorary Consuls for taking on this responsible role and wish them every success in their work.

🌍✈️ The Czech passport remains one of the world’s most powerful travel documents.
According to the latest Henley Passport Index, Czech passport holders can travel to 183 destinations without obtaining a visa in advance, placing Czechia in 7th place globally.

This ranking highlights the freedom of movement, international trust, and strong global standing that Czech citizens enjoy. 🇨🇿

✅ Ranked 7th worldwide
✅ Access to 183 destinations visa-free or with simplified entry requirements
✅ Among the world’s strongest passports, alongside countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Slovakia in the same ranking group.

A powerful passport is more than a travel document—it is a reflection of a country’s international relationships and reputation. 🌎

Think a Czech-only Wimbledon final was exceptional? 🇨🇿🎾
It was. But Czech sport has been doing the exceptional for generations.
On this day in 1952, Emil Zátopek won Olympic gold in the 5,000m at the Helsinki Games. A few days later, he added gold in the 10,000m and then shocked the world by winning the marathon—a race he was running for the first time in his life.
🥇 5,000m
🥇 10,000m
🥇 Marathon
More than 70 years later, Zátopek remains the only athlete in Olympic history to win all three of these events at the same Games.
And the tradition continues.
Just days ago, Czech canoe slalom athletes once again proved their class on the world stage, with world titles and medals at the World Championships, underlining that Czechia continues to produce champions far beyond tennis.
From Zátopek in Helsinki to Czech champions on today's courts, rivers and tracks, one thing remains unchanged:
A small nation. An extraordinary sporting legacy. 🇨🇿

At the same time, a huge congratulations goes to her opponent as well. Reaching a Wimbledon final is an extraordinary accomplishment, and both players showcased talent, determination, and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
We are incredibly proud of both of you. Thank you for representing Czech tennis with such passion and excellence on one of the biggest stages in sport. ❤️🤍💙
