FOOT PATROL | Lower and the northern climes were patrolled by Rick yesterday over more than 5 hours out on the ward (est. 7.15 miles).

(11.30am) was reached via the Nature Reserve and , with every street on the 'flower estate' being covered, including Foxglove Road (12.09pm) and Lupin Close (p).

Valentines Way (12.38pm)and Fels Farm Mews were visited before heading through and (1.40pm, p).

Both Wisdons Close (2.01pm, p) and Alex Guy Gardens were checked, follow by the beat's Woodshire Road (2.20pm, p).

Tony Rawson Way (3.16pm), Wheel Farm Drive and Fels Farm Avenue were patrolled late on. (7199EA)

FOOT PATROL | Energised by spells of rain, Rick's 4 hour, 56 minute patrol of the ward this afternoon saw every street visited, along with a late presence in (9.37 miles).

A visit was made to the May and Baker Social Club first thing as the Dagenham and Redbridge Community Trust hosted another week of sports and games for primary school children.

It was then on to Harveys Lane via the Country Park and (3.58pm), with Great Cullings (4.16pm, p), Valentines Way, Fels Farm Mews and Eastbrook Drive all following.

The whole of (4.51pm) was covered, including Foxglove Road (4.57pm) and a rainy Campion Close.

From there, every street on both sides of Dagenham Road was patrolled, from Gorseway (5.48pm), Footpath 155 and Lincoln Avenue (p) to the east and the west's Strood Avenue (6.36pm), Thorntons Farm Avenue and Croxford Way (7.18pm).

It was then southbound through (7.31pm, p) and , and passing the social club on the way back to Dagenham Police Station. (7199EA)

FOOT PATROL | Rick covered over 3 miles of the ward's open spaces today as part of the team's ongoing 'firewatch' commitments, along with a visit into and the beat (7.66 miles).

Beginning with the Country Park (p) just after 10am, 1.67 miles of the 'green' space was patrolled, with 2 glass bottles collected along the way.

, via the riding school, towards Harveys Lane in followed, before every street on (11.34am), including Campion Close (11.42am) and Carnation Close (11.55am).

A loop around Great Cullings, Harveys Lane and Thorntons Farm Avenue (12.26pm, p) all led to (12.32pm), which saw just under a mile patrolled, along with 2 more glass bottles picked up.

It was then around Woodshire Road (12.52pm, p), through Tony Rawson Way and along Park Drive (1.08pm).

There was still time for a bit of engagement with children at the May and Baker Social Club who were enjoying the final day of the week at the Dagenham and Redbridge Community Trust-run summer camp. (7199EA)

FOOT PATROL | Rick's near 5-hour patrol of the ward today saw him covering , tracking down a lost taxi and engaging with children at a summer sports camp (7.80 miles).

Heading through the Country Park and Footpath 18 towards (10.30am), all of the 'flower estate' was patrolled, including Carnation Close and Campion Close (11.49am, p).

From there, Lincoln Avenue (12.08pm), Lilac Gardens, Laurel Crescent, Rose Glen (12.22pm, p) and Gorseway to the east of Dagenham Road were all visited via Harveys Lane.

It was on to Valentines Way and Fels Farm Mews (12.54pm, p) and back past the lakes, which included a check-in with the lake's bailiffs.

The final stop was the May and Baker Social Club, where children at a sports camp had their burning questions answered...and their curiosity about the weight of the stab-vest satisfied. (7199EA)

FOOT PATROL | All of the beat was patrolled today, with Rick and Lee also extending their coverage to (5.27 miles).

Calling by the May and Baker Social Club first thing to introduce themselves to kids at a summer sports camp, 's Hooks Hall Drive (10.26am) was next.

From there, the likes of Birch Gardens, Park Drive (10.35am, p), Grove Gardens (10.51am) and Highland Avenue were covered.

Bell Farm Avenue, Hardie Road (11.02am), Eastbrook Close, Macdonald Avenue and Woodshire Road (11.31am) were also patrolled, along with Luke Allsopp Square (11.44am, p).

Over a mile of (12.05pm, p) and neighbouring was also completed as part of the team's open space ASB and 'firewatch' commitments this summer. (7199EA)

FIREWATCH PATROLS | The team have continued to keep an eye on the ward's open spaces in recent months as the dry conditions increase the likelihood of wildfires.

The Country Park, and have all been monitored since May, with dedicated patrols taking place. During that time, 11 glasses bottles discarded by visitors have been collected.

By magnifying the sun's rays, glass can ignite dry foliage. In fact, just a few weeks ago, a Guernsey fire requiring 400 tonnes of water to extinguish was believed to have been started by discarded bottles (see link below).

It doesn't take long for a small patch of fire to become a critical incident and endanger life, so helps us keep this small part of the world fire-free.

FOOT PATROL | Open space patrols and lower were included on the rounds this morning, with Rick and Lee heading out onto the ward (6.33 miles).

The Country Park, and (p) all made up 1.8 miles of open space patrols, which included a call-by to the Pitch 'n' Putt.

After arriving in Valentines Way (11.41am), Lee was called away to attend to matters elsewhere on the borough, with Rick going on to patrol every street on (12.07pm).

Great Cullings, Eastbrook Drive (1.30am) and Fels Farm Mews (p) followed.

It was then back via the country park (p). (7199EA)

THIRD SHOPLIFTER ARRESTED | Last week, another arrest was made in relation to theft at the Co-op in , with an 8-week suspended sentence charge (suspended for 12 months) coming the following day.

After being informed of the shoplifting offence, which took place on 21st July, the team's Adam recognised the suspect after CCTV enquiries and passed the information on to another department.

The man was arrested 7 days later by officers on the 'arrest car', a team dedicated to apprehending outstanding suspects.

As well as the stolen items being returned, which included fabric softener and coffee pods, 's Lee issued a Community Protection Warning (CPW) banning the man from the store.

"Adam has played a pivotal role in dealing with shoplifters at the Co-op since arriving on the ward in May, which has included working closely with staff.

Whether it's been directly arresting suspects at the scene, chasing them down on the bus or passing the information on to other policing units, that's now 3 shoplifters who, hopefully, won't be back anytime soon."
