The NAO is an independent public body that helps Parliament hold government to account for how taxpayers’ money is spent. We provide assurance to Parliament through our audit work and add value to government by supporting its drive to improve public services. We make a real difference by working closely with government bodies to understand the challenges they face, helping them make improvements in important public services. Our work is wide-ranging - from health and education to transport and defence. We offer a 3 year graduate training scheme and a 5 year school leaver scheme, both leading to qualification as a chartered accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). To help our clients improve their performance you will help deliver our financial audit work, have opportunities to work on our high profile value for money studies and gain experience working on a range of our other assurance work.
