Norbury Hill Cubs Nursery A unique family-run day nursery dedicated to providing all children with a ‘home from home' enviro

Norbury Hill Cubs is a family run nursery which began as a Childminding business in 2009. Our basic ethos is to provide all children with a ‘home from home’ in which they can express themselves freely and learn about the world around them in a secure, friendly and beautiful environment. We take inspiration from the theories of Montessori, Steiner and Reggio Emilia; intertwining ideas of early independence with the goals of the EYFS. All members of staff continuously strive for brilliance in the care and nourishment of young minds. We are a Lead Community Childcare and Early Learning Hub, which means that we work with other settings in South London to raise the quality of early years provisions.

🖤💛💚 BLACK HISTORY MONTH AT NHC 💚💛🖤

What a month it’s been! Our little ones have been on a journey all around the world without leaving SW16 🌍

🇯🇲 Jamaican patties made from scratch, rice and peas and juicy fruit tasting
🇸🇴 Somali flags, camels and a delicious chicken stew with golden rice
🇰🇪 Handa’s Surprise, Swahili words, chapati, mandazi and cassava
🇳🇬 Jollof, puff puff and plantain (gone in minutes!)
🇬🇭 Kente cloth and drumming
🇬🇾🇧🇧 Guyana and Barbados stories and flags
🗺️ Making our own maps of Africa
💕 Hair Love and celebrating all our beautiful hair
👑 Basquiat crowns and Chris Ofili inspired faces
📚 Trips to our local library and shop

And the big one... our very own NHC CARNIVAL! 🎭 The children made their masks and we paraded down the road to Norbury park in the sunshine. So lovely to see!

A HUGE thank you to our NHC families 🙏 So many of you sent in clothes, jewellery, carnival costumes and food from home so your little ones could proudly share their countries of origin with their friends. The children were delighted to share. We really couldn’t do it without you!

This is what NHC is all about. Every child, every family, every culture celebrated 💛

A little act of kindness that made our day 💛

This morning a gentleman walking past Norbury Hill Cubs stopped to tell us how much he loved seeing us celebrate Black History Month. His family is from Jamaica, and he shared that when he was young, nobody celebrated like this. He spoke about the Windrush and how important this history is for us all in Britain.

Before he left, he kindly gave us £20 as a thank you. We’ve decided this will be our very first donation to First Steps charity for our Christmas fundraising this year.

Our Norbury Hill Cubs family took on Race For Kids in Hyde Park today, and we are so proud to share that together we raised £885! 🎉

Little legs, big hearts and so many smiles along the way. Thank you to every child, parent, grandparent and team member who ran, walked, cheered and donated. You made it happen.

✨ WHAT A DAY AT NORBURY HILL CUBS ✨

We are completely speechless. Today our NHC family staff - their uncles, siblings, friends all rolled up their sleeves and gave up their Saturday to transform our spaces for the children we love. 💛

Our brand new Lions Preschool Room is ready to inspire curious minds. Our new Toddler Room is set up for little explorers to discover, build and grow. And our calming Breathing Area is a soft, safe corner for big feelings and quiet moments. 🌸🧸📚

This is what a family is - showing up for each other because our children deserve the very best start. Every shelf built, every room cleared, every corner tidied today was done with love.

To every single person who turned up, carried furniture, swept a floor and ate the pizza thank you. NHC is what it is because of you. 🙏💙

**🎓 Class of 2026 – Graduation Day at NHC! 👑**

What an incredible day celebrating our Class of 2026! From the moment our little graduates stepped through the door in their purple gowns and sparkling crowns, this royal-themed celebration was one to remember.

A huge thank you to our amazing NHC staff for bringing the royal theme to life and making the day so special. To every parent and child who came along to cheer, celebrate, and be part of this milestone, thank you for your support, it means the world to us.

Special thanks to for the fantastic music that kept the party going, and to Francesca from .academy for once again joining us as our certificate presenter.

To our graduates: you’ll always have a place here. Once NHC family, always NHC family. We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see all the amazing things you go on to achieve. 💫

Another evening well spent investing in our team! Tonight the NHC family came together after a full day of caring for our little ones to dive into “From Observing to Planning” training, sharpening how we turn everyday moments into meaningful next steps for every child in our care.

Huge thanks to every team member who showed up with energy and enthusiasm after a long day. This is what sets NHC apart, a team that never stops learning and growing together.

you never disappoint 🌿🐄☀️

Today we took our biggest group EVER and the energy was something else. Beautiful sunshine, happy kids, good food shared between families who’ve become so much more than nursery parents to us.

Watching the little ones run around together, seeing the grown-ups relax and laugh and actually breathe for five minutes, it’s these days that remind us why we do what we do.

Nearly 20 years of NHC and the community just keeps growing. We are so grateful for every single one of you. 💛

Ten hour shift done team NHC STILL gave everything. 💪✨

Tonight our incredible team stayed behind for professional development with Sak our Strategic Wellbeing Lead because that’s just who they are. 🙌

Small Moments, Serious Practice — how the everyday routines we almost overlook are actually where the magic happens. Mealtimes. Nappy changes. Transitions. Every single one is a teaching moment, a connection moment, a safeguarding moment.

These aren’t just our staff. They’re our dream team. And tonight proved it all over again. 💚

Thanks to Sak for leading such a thoughtful, engaging session and to every single one of our practitioners who showed up fully.

🌟 Bright and early, Team NHC are back at it this Saturday morning! 🌟

This morning our wonderful team gathered at the nursery to complete our annual Paediatric First Aid training with the brilliant Paul Bermingham - what a team 💪

As many of you will know, paediatric first aid certification is required once every three years, but here at NHC we believe that when it comes to the safety of your little ones, once a year is simply best practice. Our children deserve nothing less than a team who are confident, competent, and always ready to act. 🏥❤️

From CPR to choking, emergency response to managing injuries our staff are trained, refreshed, and ready. The safety and wellbeing of every child in our care will always come first. 🧒👶

A huge thank you to Paul for delivering such an engaging and thorough session and to every single member of Team NHC for giving up their Saturday. You are the heart of this nursery. 🤍
