We are incredibly proud to have the support of T. Cribb & Sons, a respected name within the funeral profession with a history stretching back to 1881

Their statement reflects exactly why the Funeral Officiant Authority exists, to help ensure that families and funeral professionals can have confidence in the people entrusted to lead one of the most important services a family will ever arrange.

Professionalism. Competence. Accountability. Safeguarding.

DBS checks, appropriate insurance, accreditation, ongoing standards and a clear framework of accountability should not be seen as excessive when we are working with bereaved families at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.

We are extremely grateful to T. Cribb & Sons for recognising the importance of what we are building and for being prepared to stand publicly alongside us.

The FOA is growing, the support is growing, and so is the conversation around the standards our profession deserves.

Raising Standards. Safeguarding Families. Building Trust.

When I started out as a Celebrant, I was given 'The Prophet' by Khahil Gilbran. For those who don't know, he is a Lebanese poet and writer. Some of his works I have used in services. I recently came across this one and thought I'd share.

WHY VALENTINES FUNERAL DIRECTORS SUPPORT THE FOA

As we continue sharing the voices of those standing alongside the Funeral Officiant Authority, today we’re proud to share the words of Valentines Funeral Directors.

Funeral directors place enormous trust in the officiants they introduce to their families.

They need to know that the person representing them will provide the same level of care, compassion and professionalism that the family has already received from their funeral director.

That is why collaboration between funeral directors and officiants is so important.

At the FOA, we want to provide greater reassurance that officiants are committed to recognised standards, safeguarding, ongoing professional development and accountability.

Not because the profession is lacking wonderful officiants — there are many exceptional people doing this role every single day.

But because good professionals should be able to demonstrate the standards they stand behind.

And families should be able to have confidence in them.

We’re incredibly grateful to Valentines Funeral Directors for supporting the FOA and recognising what we are working to achieve for families and the wider funeral profession.

Now we’ll let Valentines tell you, in their own words, why they support the Funeral Officiant Authority.

WHY MORGAN’S FUNERAL DIRECTORS SUPPORT THE FOA

All statements of support are over on our website

As we continue sharing the voices of those supporting the Funeral Officiant Authority, today we’re proud to share the words of Morgan’s Funeral Directors.

For a funeral director, choosing the right officiant to introduce to a family carries real responsibility.

It isn’t simply about finding someone who can deliver a good service.

It’s about knowing that the person being entrusted with that family will treat them with care, compassion, professionalism and respect from the very first conversation.

That is exactly why the support of funeral directors matters so much to the FOA.

We want funeral directors to have greater confidence in the officiants they recommend and families to have greater reassurance in the person they welcome into their lives at such a vulnerable time.

The FOA is about recognising good officiants, raising professional standards and creating greater accountability across funeral officiating.

We are incredibly grateful to Morgan’s Funeral Directors for supporting that vision and standing alongside us as we work towards positive change within the profession.

Now we’ll let Morgan’s explain, in their own words, why they support the Funeral Officiant Authority.

WHY F. A. ALBIN & SONS SUPPORTS THE FOA

As we continue sharing the voices of those supporting the Funeral Officiant Authority, today we’re proud to highlight F. A. Albin & Sons.

Support from respected funeral directors is incredibly important to what we are building.

Funeral directors work closely with officiants every single day. They understand the responsibility involved in entrusting someone to meet a grieving family, hear their story and ultimately lead one of the most important moments in that family’s life.

At the FOA, our aim is simple: to give funeral directors greater confidence, give families greater reassurance and recognise those officiants who are prepared to stand behind professional standards.

This isn’t about changing the wonderful individuality that exists within funeral officiating.

It’s about creating a foundation of professionalism, safeguarding and accountability that families can trust.

We are incredibly grateful to F. A. Albin & Sons for supporting what we are working to achieve.

Their reputation has been built around caring for families, which makes their support particularly meaningful to us.

But rather than us telling you why this matters, we’ll let F. A. Albin & Sons tell you in their own words.

WHY C J REILLY SUPPORTS THE FOA

Over the next few days, we’re proud to be sharing the words of some of the funeral professionals and organisations supporting the Funeral Officiant Authority.

Today, we’re sharing the words of C J Reilly Funeral Services.

For us, support from funeral directors is incredibly important because they see first-hand the difference a professional, compassionate and accountable officiant can make to a family’s experience.

The FOA was created to bring greater reassurance to families and funeral directors alike, while recognising and supporting the many excellent officiants already working within our profession.

We believe collaboration is how meaningful change happens.

Funeral directors and officiants have very different roles, but ultimately we share the same responsibility:

To ensure families receive the care, dignity and professionalism they deserve.

We’re incredibly grateful to C J Reilly for standing alongside us and supporting our vision for higher standards, greater accountability and increased public confidence.

Now we’ll let their words speak for themselves.

CHOICE MATTERS. STANDARDS MATTER TOO.

Every family should have the freedom to choose the person they feel is right to lead their loved one’s funeral.

That choice is deeply personal, and it should always remain with the family.

But choice and professional standards can work together.

Families should be able to choose an officiant who reflects their beliefs, wishes and personality, while also having reassurance that the person they choose is committed to professionalism, safeguarding and accountability.

At the Funeral Officiant Authority, we are not here to restrict choice.

We are here to strengthen confidence in that choice.

We believe families deserve both.

Freedom to choose.

And reassurance in the person they choose.

Whether a service is traditional, contemporary, religious, non-religious or completely unique, the same principles should remain at its heart:

Respect.

Compassion.

Professionalism.

Accountability.

Because raising standards should never mean taking choice away from families.

It should mean helping families make that choice with greater confidence.

Together, we can continue raising standards, safeguarding families and building trust across funeral officiating.

Do you agree that families should have complete choice while still being able to expect recognised professional standards? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
