14th Walthamstow Scout Group

14th Walthamstow Scout Group Adventure is at the heart of everything we do. It is the single most important thing that sets Scouts apart. We are the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation.

If you are interested in joining please visit https://14thwalthamstow.org.uk/faq/ We change lives by offering 6 to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities. Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time managem

ent, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world. What do Scouts do? Scouts take part in activities as diverse as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas, photography, climbing and zorbing. As a Scout you can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming, or even how to fly a plane. There’s something for every young person. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world. What do volunteers do? This everyday adventure is possible thanks to our adult volunteers, who support Scouts in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people, to helping manage a Group, to being a charity Trustee. We help volunteers get the most out of their experiences at Scouts by providing opportunities for adventure, training, fun and friendship. Our award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouts as young people. Our approach focuses on what you want to get out of volunteering with Scouts, while respecting how much time you can offer. Over 90% of Scout volunteers say that their skills and experiences have been useful in their work or personal life.

🚲 Cub Night: Bike Maintenance Fun! 🔧

Last night our Cubs brought along their bikes for a hands-on cycle maintenance session—and what a brilliant evening it was!

They learned essential skills to keep their bikes safe and road-ready, from basic checks and troubleshooting to fixing common issues. The highlight for many was learning how to repair a puncture—an invaluable skill for any young cyclist!

It was great to see everyone getting stuck in, helping each other, and building confidence along the way. Well done Cubs! 👏

🌲🔥 Cubs Back to Basics Camp! 🔥🌲
This weekend our Cubs headed off for their Back to Basics Camp, where they got stuck into a brilliant weekend of outdoor skills, adventure and plenty of fun in the forest! 🏕️
They learnt how to light fires safely, cooked their own pitta pizzas, built shelters using natural materials and then put them to the test with buckets of water! 💦 They also toasted s’mores over the fire and even had a go at making fire-baked bread. 🍕🍫🍞
The adventure was topped off with a night-time treasure hunt 🔦🗺️ and hours of free play in the forest — a fantastic weekend of fun, friendship and proper back-to-basics Scouting! ⚜️

This week our Cubs had a well-earned wind-down evening, swapping the usual action for a fantastic selection of board games! 🧩♟️

It was great to see so many Cubs bringing in their favourite games from home and sharing them with their friends – from quick-fire challenges to games that really got everyone thinking! 😄

Lots of laughs, teamwork, and a bit of friendly competition all round 🏆

A brilliant way to relax, socialise, and try something new – well done Cubs! 👏

🌷💐 Mother’s Day Crafts at Cubs! 💐🌷

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, the Cubs were busy tonight getting creative making cards, carnations and special coupons ready to give to someone important in their lives. ✂️🎨

Our Explorer Young Leaders did a brilliant job leading the activity, teaching everyone how to make beautiful origami tulips 🌷 — a flower that will last forever.

We know families come in all shapes and sizes, so these gifts might be heading to a mum, nan, carer, or another special mother-figure who means a lot to them. 💖

A lovely evening full of creativity and thoughtful gifts! 🐺👏

On Friday Our Beavers celebrated World Book Day. They came dressed up as their favourite book character and our newest Young Leader, Freddie, talked to us about being a librarian and library monitor at his school. The beavers made book marks, designed book covers and learned how to look after books. 📚
