🎤 We’re delighted to announce that Shelley Paterson will be joining the post-talk discussion at the Annual Pitt Lecture 2026, alongside Cllr Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Young People and Culture, following the keynote address from Marcus Ryder MBE.

Born and raised in Camden, Shelley is a writer, cultural commentator and founder of blackpeoplesbusiness, a cultural blog & platform exploring Black life through commentary, conversation and storytelling. Her work examines Black identity, society and lived experience through personal reflection and cultural analysis. Drawing from her experiences as a Black woman in the UK, she explores the complexities of contemporary Black British life.

🌦️ The weather may not have got the summery memo... but that didn't stop Camden from bringing joyful vibes for our Summer Street Fiesta on Saturday! 🎶💃

A huge thank you to all of our amazing performers, partners and contributors who kept the energy levels sky high despite the rain and got everyone involved throughout the day. It was fantastic to see people of all ages coming together and making the most of everything on offer, brollies in hand ☔❤️

Whether you joined in the dance workshops with 💃, got creative with the artwork and family activities from 🎨, enjoyed the incredible sounds of 🎺 and the scene-stealing 🥁, or jumped into a kickabout with 's very own Gunnersaurus ⚽, there was something for everyone.

We were also treated to brilliant performances from the talented young people of and 's Remix Dance School 🌟, while local legends 🎵 brought their unmistakable Camden energy to close the day in style.

And one of our favourite moments? Watching join forces with and for a cultural crossover nobody saw coming... but everyone loved! 😂❤️🥁⚽🎵

📚🧡 Jewish Culture Month continues!

This week we're spotlighting writer, poet and human rights campaigner Emanuel Litvinoff.

Born in Whitechapel in 1915 to Jewish immigrant parents, Litvinoff grew up in London's East End and went on to become one of Britain's most important Jewish literary voices. His novels, poetry and memoirs explored Jewish identity, prejudice, belonging and the lasting impact of the Holocaust.

Beyond his writing, Litvinoff campaigned tirelessly for human rights and was a leading advocate for Soviet Jews facing discrimination and restrictions on emigration. He was also one of the first public figures to challenge antisemitism in the work of poet T.S. Eliot.

He lived in Camden for many years, including in a flat above a swimming pool on Finchley road, a basement flat in Fitzjohn's Avenue, and in Mecklenburgh Square for the last forty years of his life.

🎭 Just wow! What an absolute joy to witness the phenomenal talent of the Camden Youth Theatre performing The Place We Made at New Diorama Theatre tonight!

We are so proud to have supported the relaunch and growth of this brilliant programme through the Cultural Education and Learning Support Fund - and tonight we got to see the incredible fruits of that investment on stage. 🌱

Created and devised by talented young people at Camden People’s Theatre, this production was packed with poignant moments, outstanding comic timing and a great lot of heart. 💛

📚🧡Jewish Culture Month starts today!

To celebrate, over the next few weeks we’ll be spotlighting significant Jewish cultural figures connected to Camden - and we’re starting with writer Amy Levy 📖

Born in 1861, Amy Levy was the first Jewish woman to attend Newnham College, Cambridge, and one of the bold voices of the early New Woman movement. Her writing explored Jewish identity, prejudice, women’s rights and belonging with honesty, wit and courage.

Love Camden and the Museum of Youth Culture gavr teamed up to bring a legendary collection of Camden rave flyers to the Camden People's Museum - our ever-growing digital collection of art, history and community in Camden!

Transport yourself back to the era of rave culture in Camden Town - where a curled up flyer in your pocket and a vague set of instructions was all you needed for a great night out 🪩 💃🕺

Venues like Camden Palace, Electric Ballroom (now KOKO) and Dingwalls helped shape the UK rave scene from 1988-2000 - and the flyers? Pure works of art, packed with psychedelic graphics, sci-fi imagery and DIY creativity.
