🌳 ☀️ Here’s how you can enjoy the sunshine AND prevent wildfires in our parks.

Several recent fires have caused damage across local green spaces, and with temperatures rising, the wildfire risk is higher than usual.

Before you head out, remember:
🚫barbecues are banned in our parks
🗑️Take your rubbish home if bins are full
🍾🔎do not leave glass bottles behind as they can magnify the sun and start fires
🚬throw ci******es away responsibly or take a portable ashtray with you.

A single spark can destroy habitats, harm wildlife and put people at risk, so let’s keep Ealing’s parks safe, green and enjoyable for everyone 💚

Our food safety officers gave a Southall takeaway restaurant multiple chances to put serious hygiene issues right.

But when they returned, they found many of the same problems still there 🚨

At one inspection, around 20kg of curries, rice and meat dishes had been left at room temperature and was voluntarily surrendered by staff.

This month, Abi Fast Food and its director pleaded guilty to 12 food safety offences and were ordered to pay more than £8,800 combined.

We will continue to take action against businesses that put public health at risk.

🌿☀️ Help Protect Ealing’s Green Spaces from Grass Fires 🚒

Recent grass fires across London have shown how quickly dry grass and litter can fuel a fire. Closer to home, incidents have affected Greenford, Horsenden and Gunnersbury. These fires causing damage to valuable grassland and wildlife habitats.

To help reduce the risk, our Parks Rangers are carrying out extra patrols in higher-risk areas. Also cutting longer grass earlier than scheduled and creating fire breaks to help stop fires from spreading.

We can all play a part in protecting Ealing’s parks, nature reserves and green spaces, by:

🚯 Take your rubbish home.
🚬 Fully extinguish ci******es and matches. Dispose of them safely and responsibly. Do not litter your cigarette butts.
🍾 Taking glass bottles home and never leaving them behind, as they magnify the suns rays and can spark a fire.
🔥 Choose a picnic instead of a barbecue in the park. Barbecues are banned in Ealing's public parks and green spaces.

If you spot signs of a fire, report them immediately.

Free school uniform pop-ups are returning across the borough this August, helping families get ready for the new school year without the extra cost 🎒✨

Families can pick up good-quality donated primary and secondary school uniform at no cost, giving outgrown items a second life. So far, the project has supported more than 265 families and saved hundreds of uniform items from landfill.

Have your say on the future of HMO licensing in the borough of Ealing 🏠

Residents, tenants, landlords, businesses and community groups are being invited to share their views on proposals to continue licensing smaller Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) across the borough until 2032.

Small HMOs are shared homes where 3 or 4 people from different households live together. The licensing scheme helps ensure these properties are safe, well managed and meet legal standards, while also helping tackle issues such as overcrowding, poor housing conditions and antisocial behaviour.

Over the past two years, council inspections of more than 900 HMOs identified almost 4,900 housing hazards, helping to improve conditions for renters.
