Ojú wa ni ẹ̀yà ara tí ó ga jù ní ara ènìyàn, ẹsẹ̀ ni ó wà ní ìsàlẹ̀ ara pátápátá. Kókó tí èyí ń tẹnumọ́ ni wípé ìbáṣepọ̀ wà láàárín ibi tí ó ga jù lára àti ibi tí ó wà ní ìsàlẹ̀ pátápátá.

Implied meaning:
Although the eyes are at the apex of the body and the feet are at the very bottom, they depend on one another. Vision alone is powerless without movement, and movement determines what vision will encounter. What the feet choose to carry the body toward ultimately shapes what the eyes will see.

OÚNJẸ ILẸ̀ WA/OUR TRADITIONAL FOODS
Àlapà jẹ́ oríṣìí oúnjẹ ìbílẹ̀ ní ilẹ̀ Yorùbá, ó farapẹ́ móínmóín. àpapọ̀ ẹwà àti ẹ̀gúsí ni wọ́n fi ń ṣe é. Àwọn èròjà tí wọ́n fi ń sè é ni ẹ̀wà, ẹ̀gúsí, àlùbọ́sà, òróró, rodo, tàtàṣé, iyọ̀, amọ́bẹ̀dùn, omi, ẹja,edé àti ewéeran.

Alapa is a traditional Yorùbá cuisine, it is a steam pudding similar to móínmóín. It is the combination of beans and melon. The ingredients for àlapà are beans, melon , onions, oil bonnet and paprika pepper, salt, seasoning, water, fish, crayfish, wrapping leaf.

Olóyè Àlàbí Ògúndépò jẹ́ àgbà-ọ̀jẹ̀ akéwì, òṣeré àti oníìjálá. Ọmọ bíbí ìlú Ṣakí ní Òkè -Ògùn ní ìpínlẹ̀ Ọ̀yọ́, orílẹ̀èdè Nàìjíríà. Ó jẹ́ èèkàn nínú àwọn oníjáálá ní ilẹ̀ Yorùbá, òun ló ṣẹ̀dá orin ìyìn ìlú Ṣakí láti fi ṣe ìgbélárugẹ ìlú rẹ̀. Àádọ́ta ọdún ó lé ní o fi ṣiṣẹ́ lórí rédíò àti tẹlifíṣàn. Gbajú-gbajà agbédègbeyọ̀ tí ọ̀pọ̀ èèyàn mọ ni. Olùfẹ́ èdè, ìtàn àti àṣà Yorùbá ti ó ń fi àwọn iṣẹ́ rẹ̀ yálà ohun tàbí àpilẹ̀kọ ṣe ìgbélárugẹ ìran Yorùbá. Alabi Ògúndépò darapọ̀ mọ́ àwọn baba ńlá rẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ kẹrìnlélógún oṣù kẹfà ọdún 2026 kí Elédùà bá wa tẹ́ ẹ sí afẹ́fẹ́ rere.

Chief Àlàbí Ògúndépò was a distinguished elder poet, actor, and oníìjálá (Ijala chanter). He was a native of Ṣakí in Òkè-Ògùn, Oyo State, Nigeria. He was one of the foremost oníìjálá in Yorùbáland and the creator of the Ṣakí anthem, composed to promote and celebrate his hometown. For over fifty years, he worked in radio and television and became a renowned broadcaster, widely known and loved by many. He was a passionate lover of the Yorùbá language, history, and culture, which he promoted through his works, both audio and written, contributing immensely to the preservation and advancement of Yorùbá heritage. Alàbí Ògúndépò joined his ancestors on the 24th of June, 2026. May Elédùà receive him into peaceful rest and grant him eternal peace.

Orúkọ a máa sọ ìtàn, fún ènìyàn ní òmìnira tàbí fi wọn sí ìgbèkùn. Orúkọ a máa ní ohun tó dúró fún; ìdí nìyí tí àwọn Yorùbá fi máa ń sọ pé wèrè nìkan ni ìí bìkítà nípa orúkọ, tí ó sì máa ń kọtí ikún sí iyatọ̀ tí ó wà láàárín orúkọ tí ó yàn láti jẹ́ àti èyí tí àwọn ènìyàn fẹ́ràn láti máa pè wọ́n.
