On 14 July 1972, Lou Reed played a concert at the Kings Cross cinema in London - now called the Scala. It was Lou’s first concert outside the US. David Bowie was there, and he introduced Lou to the Rock ‘n’ Roll photographer Mick Rock. Mick took some great photos of Lou during the concert. One of those photographs was used for the cover of Lou’s ‘Transformer’ album (produced by Bowie). The next night, Iggy and the Stooges played. And Mick was there to take the picture used on their 'Raw Power' album (again produced by Bowie). To me, and I am sure to many others, these are two of the greatest albums ever made. I would like to have a blue plaque installed on the Scala venue to celebrate these two nights in 1972. Two nights that shouldn’t be forgotten in the history of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Any help with contacts or press, or anything to make this happen, would be most welcome - please get in touch.
