Instead of hiding behind closed doors, we’re open about how we care for the living and the dead. We’re by your side every step of the way, creating a funeral that works for you. We're based in Tooting, South London and provide funeral services throughout Greater London. We also regularly help families across the South East and beyond. At Poppy's, we believe in looking after you, the person who's died and the planet in the best way possible. We believe that great care for both the living and the dead can transform your experience. Our team will offer you meaningful choice and transparency, supporting you to make the decisions that are right for you. Respect for the environment is very important to us, with a range of sustainable choices available and a commitment to minimising our own environmental impact. Above all else, we’ll give you honest, straightforward advice and support you every step of the way. You can reach us anytime between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday (except Thursdays, where we open at 9:30am). Our collections team are available 7 days a week, between 8am and 8pm. If you are calling after 8pm, please leave your name, number and any info you feel we should know. We will call you back in the morning to arrange bringing the person who has died into our care.

We know that visiting a funeral director can be a nerve-wracking experience, especially if you're experiencing grief or overwhelm. We hope to make your visit as comfortable as it can be.

We do this by giving you a warm welcome, hosting you in bright, comfortable spaces and always offering you a fresh cup of proper coffee or tea.

Perhaps you've never been to a funeral that ended in a conga line out of the door at the end - but we have (and it was brilliant)! 👯

A moment of joyfulness, laughter or silliness can play a beautiful role in a funeral. It can be a true reflection of the character of the person who has died, as well as enriching the more sombre moments of the service.

A conga line might not be quite right for everyone, but it's a real reminder that every person is unique, and this can be reflected in their funeral.

Tooting residents - would you like to explore your arrangements for later life in a friendly and open-minded space?

Then join us All Saints, Tooting for their free 'Getting your affairs in order' event. This is part of their Eventide series - a programme of events exploring aging, grieving and dying.

You'll hear from an expert panel covering topics including funeral planning, Power of Attorney, eldercare and more. There'll be plenty of time afterwards to ask questions.

We are passionate about bringing death, dying and funerals out from behind closed doors, and we know that the more we talk to the people in our lives about our wants and wishes, the more prepared we will all be when the time comes.

Can you scatter someone's ashes anywhere you want?
Would we ever advise a client not to have a visit with their person?
What needs to happen to a pacemaker after someone dies?

These are just some of the questions we discussed at today's Open Afternoon.

Visitors joined us in our calm, light-filled mortuary and heard from our CEO Clare, funeral director Amy and senior member of the mortuary team, Liam.

We were joined by new university graduates interested in the funeral sector; older people who are putting their affairs in order; and even two police officers.

Thank you so much to everyone who came (we were standing-room only once again) and asked such thoughtful questions.

🔔 Reminder - our next Open Afternoon is next Wednesday 14 October!

Funerals have historically been kept firmly behind closed doors.

This means that, when someone dies, we often don’t know how to go about arranging a funeral, or, even more importantly, how our person will be cared for. When it matters most, we are left with a lot of questions and uncertainty.

It doesn’t have to be this way. At Poppy’s we believe in a fresh approach to funerals, which is why we love welcoming visitors to our free Open Afternoons.

Visitors receive a tour of our beautiful, light-filled mortuary in Tooting, South London, learn about our gentle, natural approach to looking after the dead and have the opportunity to ask our team their questions.

If you want to know more about what happens when we die, join us for our next Open Afternoon. We only run these events twice a year, do join us if you can.
