International Left Handers Day

On August 13th 2026 Left Handers Awareness Day is a global celebration dedicated to raising awareness about the unique challenges and experiences of left-handed people.
This annual event is to celebrate our left-handed friends, family and colleagues. The day looks at the difficulty using tools, devices and products that are designed for right-handed users. By talking about these issues the hope is to encourage designers and developers to include our left-handed community.

This day was established in 1976 by the Left-Handers club based in the UK. This organisation aims to promote the interests of left-handed individuals and raise awareness of the challenges they face.
If you are left-handed you are encouraged to share your uniqueness and experience. Why not try activities with your left hand to gain an insight of what left-handed people face. Support products that are made for left-handed people.

Social Media Giving Day

In the early 2000’s nonprofit organisations began to learn the effectiveness of using social media for the greater good.
Social Media Giving Day in 2026 takes place on 15th July. It is a global campaign first launched in 2013 by Givver.com and founder Chris Sommers to encourage charitable giving through social media platforms. ( Unfortunately this site no longer exists).
This is an online awareness event dedicated to inspire people who use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) to promote charitable causes and encourage donations.
There are nearly 5 billion social media uses globally so everyday scrolling can be turned into meaningful action. Social media connects donors and causes directly. This can help with emergency fundraising, especially during crises such as natural disasters, humanitarian emergencies or medical appeals.
To get involved maybe donate to a charity online. Repost or share other campaigns online.

World Population Day

World Population Day is on the 11th July. It is to raise awareness of our growing global population. It is observed worldwide dedicated to raising awareness about population issues. These issues include family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health and human rights.
This day was started by the United Nations to talk about the importance of investing in people and sustainable development.
This year World population Day highlights the need to address the challenges of the world’s ever increasing population and how it evolves. It is also to emphasise the power of informed choices and fair chances for all.
This day takes place on Friday 11th July as this marks the anniversary of when the global population first reached five billion in 1987.
World population Day is important as the world faces such challenges as climate change, lack of resources and the number of people in different social groups is shifting.
In 2026 the global population is expected to exceed 8.1 billion. People need to think about how population trends affects economic development, environmental sustainability, and quality of life.

Global Beatles Day

In 1967 on the 25th June the Beatles recorded a message to the world. It was broadcast live as part of the BBC’s Our World, the first international satellite television broadcast of their song “ All You Need Is Love”. (The Beatles). It reached an estimated 400 million people around the globe.
In 2009 a lifelong fan, Faith Cohen, decided that day in 1967 deserved to be commemorated and Global Beatles Day was born.
From tribute concerts in Tokyo, Beatles themed exhibitions in New York City and singalongs in Buenos Aures the day has grown from the love of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

The Beatles will release a colourised version of their BBC Our World performance of “All You Need Is Love” for free on June 25th on YouTube. “ The first time the iconic performance has been made available online, it will celebrate the iconic performance’s anniversary, mark Global Beatles Day, and give fans around the world the chance to relive that spectacular, global moment from 1967 and share their reaction in the live chat.” (The Beatles).
