I know it’s a Sunday and it’s very close to Christmas but with 10 printers running pretty much 24/7 there’s always something new happening at EOD UK Ltd

We were asked to provide some targets for under water demolitions training. I designed a 1:1 copy of the Soviet MPM limpet mine and have now designed a 1:1 copy of its big brother the SPM limpet mine.

The Russian SPM (CПМ), a High-Explosive-Blast (HE-Blast), time Delay (DLY) limpet-mine intended for demolition and sabotage.

The SPM limpet-mine is used primarily against ships but can also be used on land.

The limpet-mine is roughly semi-cylindrical and may have either an aluminium or Bakelite body.

There is a fuze-well at one end, threaded to accept the VZD-1M or a VZD-20M fuze assembly.

This is sealed with a plastic plug during transit.

Large horseshoe magnets are enclosed at each end of the limpet-mine, retained by a slotted screw and emerging on the flat side for attachment to steel targets.

The fuze uses a lead-shear-wire delay mechanism.

This model is complete with the VZD-1M fuze which has a delay of between 5 minutes and 820 hours.

This print is hollow and designed to be filled with a target explosive for under water training.

For classroom use we can print an explosive fill, it can be fully disassembled like the real mine, the fuze can be printed solid as sown or with full moving parts.

For other field use we can print this as a solid munition.

This is a new Russian Shahed/Geran submunition, they are carried internally and dropped. Fitted with the VZD-3M delay fuze. The delay can be up to 15 days and these are frequently found in civilian areas.

These have been referred to as “Flash” in Russian media.

These were first noticed in March/April 2025

We at EODUK and CWC armoury have managed to examine one on our recent trip to Ukraine.

We have created a 1-1 scale 3D print complete with the fuze

This is the POM-3 bounding fragmentation mine. I have used one of our 3D printed POM-3 in a spent POM-3 case and KB-POM3 cassette.

The POM-3 is a seismic SCATMIN they initiate when a target encroaches within about 3m of the mine.

The KB cassette is used with the latest Russian mine laying system the ISDM Zemledeliye, 3 POM-3 fit in each KB Casette.

The POM-3 has a stated self destruct of 8 to 24 hours although ground observations refute this.

We manufacture 1 in 1 scale POM-3 classroom and field models.

I am currently working on a POM-3 for field use with a positive RSP indicator.

This is a cutaway Russian 9N510 warhead with 180 9N25 submunitions/incendiary elements. This is 1:1 scale training aid complete with a TM-120 time fuze.

This warhead fits on the 122mm grad rocket series with a range of 20km. The rocket designations are 9M22S 9M28 and 9M28S

The 9N25 incendiary elements are composed of a magnesium cup and thermite type filling, these are often mistaken for white phosphorous.

On detonation of the time fuze 6 linear shape charges burst the warhead open and ignite the na**lm like substance which then ignites the 9N25

Finally got some time for a stock check in the armoury. It’s been a busy year with training, trips abroad and the 3D printed training aids.

It’s nice to have some time to get everything back in its place.

Looking forward to more training opportunities next year and more lines added to the 3D printed training aids.

This STL allows you to print land mine safety warning flags. These can be used to warn civilians of contaminated areas.  I printed the spiked marking pegs with a brim and without both were fine. The first plate gives you 7 triangular warning signs for hanging on rope/wire to mark the bound...
