It's the start of a new school year - and it's time to prepare if your child is due to start school in the next year. πŸŽ’

The biggest milestone a child needs before their first day is to be toilet trained and able to use the toilet independently.

Toilet training can look different for every family - it’s all about progress, not perfection - and some children with additional needs may need more support πŸ’—

As their confidence grows, encourage them to use the toilet regularly and remind them it's always OK to ask for help if they need it.

If you're starting potty or toilet training with a younger child, these tips can help you build the skills and routines they need too. πŸ•

If you'd like more help and advice, please visit one of our Best Start Family Hubs or speak with your health visitor for more trusted advice and practical tips on toilet training. πŸ’œ
