LFB Fire Cadets

A weekend of firefighting experience, a lifetime of memories!

One of the highlights of the Cadet calendar for us is being able to take 16 of our best Officer Cadets for two days of training at the National Fire Service College.

Thanks to the generosity of Securitas, the group got to experience using a range of firefighting equipment in live fire environments as part of a team. Going 'under air' in breathing apparatus and using halmatro cutting equipment on cars were some of the highlights on the drill ground.

Opportunities like this give young people the chance to build confidence and real life skills that money can't buy. They returned very tired, but full of joy, and with plenty of new friendships formed.

Our huge thanks to Securitas, Cadet team staff, and the Firefighters who gave up their weekends to make sure that these Cadets got an unforgettable experience!

Did you know, that this week is the first ever National Cadet Week?!

It's time to spotlight the amazing young people across the country doing wonderful things within their organisations and their communities. At a time when the world can feel very complex or uncertain for a lot of young people, Cadet organisations are providing them with a safe space to grow and develop.

Every week Cadets build on their personal growth and skills, helping them feel empowered and confident as they become young adults.

Of course it takes hundreds of adults behind the scenes to provide such incredible opportunities for Cadets, and we can't sing their praises enough. Volunteers and staff devote endless time to ensure young people with the best experience they can, so a huge thank you!

We are looking forward to rounding off this week with a fantastic leadership development weekend with other uniformed youth organisations thanks to the hard work of YOU London.

To all Cadets and Instructors this week-keep doing amazing things!

Life lately 😌

Whilst some of our units are preparing to welcome lots of brand new Cadets as usual, some of our units are preparing for their pass out celebrations.

As the cadet year comes to a close for some its always wonderful to reflect on the hard work, dedication, and teamwork shown by all of our young people and Volunteer Instructors.

Well done everyone and enjoy your celebrations!

A very long day yesterday for some of our Cadets who travelled to The Emergency Services Show in Birmingham.

Cadets had the opportunity to see a wide range of exhibits from the emergency services sector and some exciting equipment demonstrations.

As well as exploring career opportunities and learning about specialist agencies, they got to take part in a variety of tabletop scenarios such as managing large incidents and road traffic collisions.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising our attendance and giving our young people a glimpse into the future of emergency response, and well done Cadets for representing London Fire Brigade so professionally.

Recently Fire Cadets Co-ordinator Millie Martelly and Leading Firefighter Huey Mensah from Mitcham were proud to accompany some of our Cadets to the Houses of Parliament.

The visit was to celebrate 10 years of True Honour a charity who work with victims of honour based violencein the UK, and raise awareness through training frontline professionals.

On Thursday 23 July, Fire Cadets were invited to join the prestigious International Security Officers Day celebrations at The Dilly.

After a very successful International Women’s Day event with IPSA earlier this year, where our female officer cadets were exceptional, the organisers extended thua further invitation.

Cadets welcomed guests as the friendly uniformed face of young people at this iconic event.

Fire Cadets had front row seats to enjoy guest speakers, celebrations and awards presented to outstanding security professionals from both the UK and overseas, for dedicated service and exceptional ability.
