It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that the Metropolitan Police Service Greek & Cypriot Association extends our sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Chicago Police Officer John Bartholomew, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty.

Officer Bartholomew’s courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting his community represent the very highest ideals of policing. His sacrifice will forever stand as a testament to his character and his service.

We also hold in our thoughts his partner, who remains in critical condition, and we pray for their full recovery.

Across borders and departments, the policing family is united in grief.

Today, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters of the Chicago Police Department and the Hellenic American Police Association as they navigate this profound loss. No words can ease the pain of such a tragedy, but we hope that the strength of our shared community offers some measure of comfort.

May Officer Bartholomew’s memory be eternal, and may his heroism never be forgotten

The Metropolitan Police Service Greek & Cypriot Association, coordinated the policing of 15 Greek Orthodox Churches across London during Easter weekend.

Officers and staff provided a reassuring presence throughout the Friday and Saturday services, warmly welcomed by congregations and the wider community.

We’d love to see your moments from the celebrations — if you have photos or videos showing Police presence at your church, please share them with us, let us know what church it was and tag the Association

The Metropolitan Police Service Greek & Cypriot Association, would like to extend our warmest wishes to you and your families as we approach the holy celebration of Greek Easter.

This sacred time of year invites us to reflect on themes of renewal, resilience, and hope—values that resonate deeply within both our Hellenic heritage and our shared commitment to public service. The spirit of the Resurrection reminds us of the strength found in unity, the importance of compassion, and the light that emerges even in challenging moments.

As we honour our traditions, whether on duty or at home, may the blessings of this season bring peace, health, and joy to you and your loved ones.

May the message of **Καλή Ανάσταση** inspire renewed purpose and continued pride in the community we represent.

Wishing you all a blessed and meaningful Easter.

With respect,

Metropolitan Police Service Greek & Cypriot Association and

We know that many of you will be feeling deep concern and distress in light of the military action currently unfolding in the middle east and our homeland. At times like this, it is only natural to experience worry for loved ones, uncertainty about the days ahead, and a sense of helplessness at events beyond our control.

Please know that the MPS Greek & Cypriot Association stands with each of you. Our thoughts are firmly with our community, our families, and all those affected.

We are in active contact with colleagues in Cyprus and are offering our support as the situation continues to develop. Their wellbeing—and yours—remains our foremost priority.

In challenging moments such as these, our strength lies in unity, compassion, and connection. Please look after yourselves and one another, and do not hesitate to contact us if you need anything at all.

With warm regards and solidarity,

MPS Greek & Cypriot Association Committee
