We are opening our doors for a special open day for Open City on Sunday 20 September, 10am - 4pm.

Don't miss your chance to explore the building! We are free to visit, no booking required.

We will be open every Monday and Tuesday as usual.

Please note that if we are very busy we might ask you to wait or come back later.

The day will also include Wellbeing Walks in the local area with brilliant guide lizzie.c.w (available to book for free via the Open City website).

We regularly deliver Creative Health & Wellbeing workshops for teams of staff from as part of our project #

We love these photos from a copper embossing workshop this week delivered by artist LiWilliamsArt for members of the Critical Care team as part of their team day.

The group also visited the Great Hall and took inspiration from the buildings decor for their designs. The final results are so beautiful and were added to greetings cards to be gifted to loved ones.

On Thursday 17 September there will be an evening of opera in the Great Hall with opera company Wild Arts

The 'Marriage of Figaro' is Mozart's opera of comic intrigue, secret lovers and clever disguises - a whirlwind of joyous music and sparkling theatrical mischief.

This week, we invite the hospital community to join us for the last of the summer sun in the square of for a range of free drop-in activities!

Until 3pm today, our artist in residence Peter Ayres is leading a paper flower activity, inspired by the floral decor of Barts North Wing (swipe to see what you can create!).

Thursday: Discover London's Earliest Map with The Charterhouse

On Wednesday 9 September London Symphony Orchestra will be playing Live Music!

This programme has been developed in partnership with Vital Arts to promote a new Creative Health Map of the area for patients and staff from Barts Health NHS Trust

It has been generously funded by Culture Mile Business Improvement District

Today is St Bartholomew's day - a day in the Church of England and Catholic Church commemorating the life and martyrdom of the Apostle Bartholomew.

The hospital was dedicated to St Bartholomew in 1123, by it's founder Rahere.

In this painting in the Great Hall, St Bartholomew holds a flaying knife, 6 of his martyrdom (painter unknown).

You can visit the Great Hall and Hogarth Stair for FREE every Monday & Tuesday, 10am - 4pm (including Bank Holidays).

Last week our Engagement Team went to St Paul's Cathedral, London to take part in their 'Helpers & Healers' week. This is part of their Summer of Stories family events taking place throughout the school holidays (see their website for more details).

The activity was inspired by the painting of the Good Samaritan at Barts North Wing, and the depiction by Hogarth of the Samaritans' hands healing the injured man.

We asked participants to draw around their hand, and to write in their hand a reflection on how they use their hands to help people. We love some of the messages that people shared, and in languages from all over the world!

Thank you to the Learning Team at St Paul's for inviting us to take part!
