Post Title: Fire Alarm Service/Small Works Engineer
Location: Greater London and the Home Counties, although we do undertake work nationwide if required.
The Role:
The Fire Alarm Engineer will be responsible for providing professional high quality and customer orientated Fire Protection Systems & Emergency Lighting service to customers.
Main Responsibilities:
Carry out Service, Repair & Installations to the requirements of BS5839 & BS5266.
Servicing of Fire Alarm Systems and other fire protection equipment, additional manufacturers training to be provided if required.
Servicing of emergency lighting and controls.
Replacing elements of Fire Alarm Systems including batteries, detectors and ancillary equipment.
Making observations regarding deficiencies with the installed system to the appropriate BS standard.
Assist with the planning of works and make appointments where no prearranged appointments have been made. Β·
Responsible for identifying new business opportunities.
Maintain good customer communications.
This role requires frequent travel throughout London, Kent and the Home Counties as required. There maybe occasions when the engineer will be required to attend jobs outside of the areas stated.
Promote continuous improvement and deliver demonstrable high-quality products and services which embrace quality standards.
Provide 24 Hour call out cover on a rota basis.
The person must be reasonably fit and be able to climb ladders unaided.
The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied therefore the post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate to the role and as requested by his/her line manager.
Educational Attainment:
NVQ level 2 or higher in electronic engineering/electrical or equivalent field
FIA modules
ECS training
Manufacturers training courses
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
Knowledge of Conventional, Addressable and Wireless Fire Alarm Systems
Knowledge of Nursecall, Disabled Refuge, Access Control systems desirable
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Able to Plan and meet deadlines.
Able to use IT effectively.
Good knowledge of Construction Health and Safety requirements.
Able to safely work at heights.
Relevant electronic engineering/electrical or equivalent trade background.
Experience of front-line customer service.
Sound verbal and written communication skills.
Committed to providing a quality service to customers.
Ability to work as part of a team and to be flexible in work approach.
Honest, reliable and customer focused.
Attending training courses and seminars.
Full current driving licence.
Willingness to work outside normal office hours.
The role requires the engineer to work in sometimes challenging environments. An understanding nature is required for this role.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From Β£33,000.00 per year
