Cultural highlights for early March: Last Chance to See! At the British Museum, Nordic Noir: Works on Paper from Edvard Munch to Mamma Andersson is entering its final weeks. Featuring over 150 works by 100 Nordic artists, the exhibition runs until 22 March.
🎻 For the opening night of HippFest in Bo'ness on 18 March, folk/electronic artists Dina Konradsen and Jo Einar Jansen are performing a live score to Fante-Anne, a landmark in Norwegian film history dating from 1920. Afterwards, Folkemølje folk-club night comes from Tromsø to Scotland as the musicians are joined by Tone Ingvaldsen for a Norwegian folk dance night.
🎬 Following a tour of the US, actor, filmmaker and author Jeanne Bøe will be presenting short film Oxblood in the UK with four screenings followed by Q&A. As well as writing the screenplay, Bøe stars in the film together with Erik Hivju, with Gard B. Eidsvold directing and a soundtrack by trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær. Bøe is presenting the film in Orkney on 9 March, on 11 March in Glasgow, on 19 March in York, and 22 March at Sjømannskirken i London.
🌵 In Cactus, Jonis Josef - one of Norway's most acclaimed comedians - makes his bold English debut a sharp, funny, and deeply personal show about identity, love, and growth. The show is coming to 21 Soho on 18 March.
🏺 At Contemporary Ceramics , a solo show of 70 new works by Lise Herud Braten takes inspiration from the vast open spaces of Norway's mountains. The exhibition includes the artist's largest moon-vases to date, as well as smaller pieces exploring new colours, glazes and firing techniques. Until 28 March.
💃 In Brighton, Colchester & London, Fest en Fest presents expanded choreography as a field that moves beyond the dancing body into sound, text, publishing, objects, installation, labour, intimacy and collective action. Norwegian performers Marte Sterud and Ann-Christin Kongsness are performing their dance pieces that form "Butch Tribute", surrounded by the audience as they take full ownership of the stage.
