๐Ÿ† Thank you is not a thing this ward says often enough to the people who organise everything.

The ActiveWestminster Awards 2026 are the council's way of doing it properly, and nominations close on Monday. Nine categories, from Club or Coach of the Year to Unsung Hero.

Behind the garden squares and the tennis and the school sport there is always somebody doing the fixtures, the rota and the equipment. Usually unpaid, usually for years.

Local councillors Rachael, Tony and Elizabeth would be glad to see a Knightsbridge or Belgravia name on the shortlist, and the only way that happens is if somebody submits it.

The form closes at midnight on the 28th, which is a Monday.

Nowhere in Westminster raises dockless bikes with us more often than this ward, so here is where enforcement has actually got to.

Full Council heard last week that around 4,500 penalties have landed on the hire firms so far this financial year, where the whole of the year before produced just over 1,200. Roughly 700 dangerously parked bikes have been lifted, a quarter of a million pounds recovered in penalties and seizure costs, and every one of the four operators hauled in over how its fleet is run.

Local councillors Rachael, Tony and Elizabeth have been raising this on Motcomb Street, Elizabeth Street and around the garden squares for years.

The useful part is quicker than the complaining. If a bike is blocking the pavement, report it at westm.news/r. Sixty seconds, and the council takes it from there.

Pavements belong to people on foot.

Police were out in Belgravia yesterday for a joint cycle action day, tackling residents' concerns about bike-related issues.

Officers issued tickets to cyclists committing offences and provided education on safer cycling throughout London. Local councillor Rachael says: "It is really important and great joint action with the police and residents, to really highlight the importance of driving safely, but also being considerate of other people, around dumping bikes, and educating people not to jump red lights on Exhibition Road."

Yom Kippur starts this evening as the sun goes down.

For those keeping it here, that means twenty five hours of prayer, fasting and reflection, and the hardest questions anyone asks themselves all year.

Local councillors Rachael, Tony and Elizabeth wish you well over the fast.
