Happy New Year to all our Facebook followers!

The conference preparations are hurtling along, and we are looking forward to seeing you all in April...

In the mean time we have decided to join the the fold of our big brother, Icon, and post all future conference updates on the The Institute of Conservation page.

We are delighted to announce the release of ten free places for Icon student members to attend the Book & Paper Group conference in London, April 2015.

This fantastic opportunity has been made possible by the generous sponsorship of NADFAS.

To apply, please send an outline of your conservation experience to date, and a statement of why you would benefit from attending this conference. Applications should be a maximum of 750 words.

Applicants must currently be enrolled in a recognised conservation degree programme or equivalent, and also must be current members of Icon.

Successful applicants will be required to produce a report, to be posted on social media, on how the conference has benefitted them. Further details will be provided to successful applicants.

We have joined forces with the Victoria and Albert Museum to offer a post conference workshop showcasing Hanji, the Korean handmade mulberry paper.

During the 1st session, Artist Chun Kwang-Young will demonstrate the preparation of specific traditional, organic dyes & their application on Hanji.

The 2nd session will see Designer Kim Been present her design praxis, highlighting the versatility of Hanji paper.

The University of Amsterdam has just announced it is starting a 2 year MA in the Conservation of Photographs to be led by the renowned Clara von Waldthausen. The deadline for the 2015-2016 academic year is 1 March 2015, so you can get your application out of the way before the conference!
