Rapists and child s*x offenders will face mandatory GPS tracking for at least 12 months after they’ve completed their full prison sentence.
Part of the biggest expansion of electronic monitoring in British history, probation officers will be able to track offenders’ locations 24/7, in near-real time.
These measures will help probation officers to identify risks and act quickly if offenders breach their probation conditions.
Other tough community punishment measures we’re enforcing for offenders include:
🟣Exclusion zone alerts
🟣Random drug testing for 1,000 offenders every month
🟣Expanded use of chemical suppression
🟣New powers to ban offenders from driving, visiting pubs or attending events such as football matches.
Together these measures will strengthen protection for victims and help keep communities safe.
