Ashford Place - Cricklewood Ashford Place provides help and advice to people on Housing, Independent Living. Health and Wellbeing

Ashford Place is a community resource centre, providing advice and practical support on a wide range of issues including; homelessness, training, employment and health. On 6th September 2013, established community advice and support service Cricklewood Homeless Concern became Ashford Place. Cricklewood Homeless Concern was originally started in 1983 by a group of local residents from St Agnes Pari

sh. They had seen homeless people rough sleeping in the area, and wanted to do something to help. In 1983 the doors of Cricklewood Homeless Concern opened as a soup kitchen for those in need. As our reputation for providing advice and support services grew, so did the number of people who came to us for help. Day to day we saw the increasing array of problems being faced by the community, and we expanded our service profile to meet those needs. Over the past 30 years we have grown to become a resource for the entire community, not just those who are homeless. We support and facilitate positive change for individuals through the provision of a range of programmes including; housing, health, training and employment. At the same time we develop services that build capacity and enhance the lives of the local community. And so, to reflect our wider reaching objectives and inclusive approach, we have renamed ourselves - Ashford Place

Your generosity will make a real difference to people who rely on Ashford Place for practical help, personal support, friendship, wellbeing, and a continued sense of connection to home. We are especially grateful for your support of our work with Irish men in London who may be facing challenges around housing, health, money and isolation.
At the heart of this partnership is respect for our service users and a shared belief in the value of community. When we stand together, listen to one another and value each other, we help create a place where people feel welcomed, understood and supported.

Ashford Place Decafé recently had a very informative and enjoyable afternoon, when university student Ellie Howe shared her expertise in the ancient art of Letter Locking, which dates from the 13th century. The workshop involved everyone present writing a secret message on a sheet of vellum which they then folded and secured using a wax stamp, to hide its contents. 💌

Our Dementia and Memory Café will be open every Tuesday throughout August, from 2 to 4pm. Members attending the Tuesday afternoon sessions enjoy a variety of activities. All our activities aim to promote a healthy and positive outlook for physical and mental wellbeing. A dedicated team of 6 volunteers are always on hand to support with refreshments and a chat.

A wonderful week filled with music, dancing, and unforgettable experiences 🎶

On Wednesday evening our clients had lots of fun singing and dancing along to Harry Styles at Wembley Stadium. Thank you to Wembley Stadium Community Club for making this possible!

Thursday evening was another night of fun thanks to Irish Music & Dance in London (IMDL)'s Return to London Town festival taster event - we look forward to more in October. A celebration of Irish culture through music, dance, and community!
