YOUR CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATES BATTLING LOCAL CRIME FOR YOU
Since we began as your candidates last October, Emily Sheffield, Christabel Flight, and Mark Tozer have been on the doorstep daily. The message is clear: rising crime and the mismanagement of social housing are your biggest frustrations.
Along with deeply concerned residents we took direct action against a basement flat on Chepstow Road that had been overrun by drug users and dealers. For two years no authority involved had taken action. As the former Editor of the Evening Standard, Emily spent many hours holding Notting Hill Genesis, Riverside Housing Association, and Westminster Council to account, plus reporting what we saw to 101 and then relentlessly following u with the local community officers. Residents also took action. Riverside and Genesis denied they knew of any bad behaviour there, despite clear evidence the door had been bashed in before. Charing Cross Police Station had clearly not passed all the 101 calls to the Bayswater community police who when confronted by residents said they had not been updated at all. Your three Labour councillors also appear to have done next to nothing.
Despite reporting evidence to the Met, the Council remained silent when we contacted them. However, everyone's persistence paid off: two arrests were made, and renovation scaffolding finally went up in February after Emily and others continued to hold NHG to account to fulfill their legal duties for building repair. This flat must be a home for the vulnerable, not a base for illegal activity. if you see anything concerning, contact [email protected] quoting 041903310 and copying in your PCSO yavar.kiyani@ met.police.uk to report any further concerning activity.
We will continue to monitor all Notting Hill Genesis Housing problems in the area, so please contact us on [email protected]
