Primrose Hill Community Library, North London. Primrose Hill Community Library is a public library open to everyone.

On Saturday 31 March 2012, Chalk Farm Library sadly closed its doors for the last time after a long battle to save our much loved local library. On Saturday 28 April, we re-opened as the Primrose Hill Community Library. We have been inspired by the strength and spirit of the community backing our efforts – thanks to over 200 residents volunteering their time and 494 financial pledges totalling £593,000 we have taken over the building from Camden Council on a 20 year lease. We’re excited about the future for the Primrose Hill Community Library but we all need to pull together to make it an inclusive, vibrant community space we can be proud of.

The 5E3 are an emerging band of old souls in new musical clothes playing the jazz of the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. If you enjoy the atmospheric music of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Grant Green, Thelonius Monk, Sam Rivers, Sonny Rollins et al, then you’ll definitely get where The 5E3 are coming from.

Re-Phill will be coming to an end at the end of September. Thank you to everyone who has visited the stall, tried refilling and supported the project over the past few months.

There will be three final Saturday mornings at the library: 12, 19 and 26 September, with 10% off everything on all three days.

If you’ve been meaning to give it a try, this is your last chance to visit the trolley and stock up on household essentials.

If you’d like to continue refilling locally, there are other options nearby, including Earth Natural Foods in Kentish Town and Refill Therapy on Holloway Road.

Dr Michael Montemurro will talk about GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour) at the Library.

Once a largely untreatable cancer, GSIT became one of the first great success stories of precision medicine and a model for understanding how cancer works and how “magic bullet” treatments can change lives.

Dr Michael Montemurro works with the Sarcoma Team at University College London Hospitals (UCLH), is Chair of Medical Oncology at the Genolier Cancer Centre in Switzerland, and is a co-author of the European GIST Guidelines and co-founder of GIST Group Switzerland
