This was the motion that was debated at Mole Valley District Council and was presented by Councillors Farrer-Astrop and Van den Bogerd

Very proud that Jo and I nursed the Nimbus access card motion through with full support of the whole council. Thanks to officers and fellow councillors for seeing the value of this access card for those with access requirements!

The UKSC ruling was an opportunity for the government and the EHRC to step up and commit to affirm the rights of all. They've failed on every measure, choosing to peddle hate and discrimination instead. We've heard enough: Kishwer Falkner and Bridget Phillipson must resign.

This is what you get with a Lib Dem Council. Thanks to all those at Liverpool Lib Dems who have worked hard on this. Disabled people deserve access to a quality of life.

The Liberal Democrats are fighting to ensure the Labour Government recognise the harm they are creating. PIP is there to acknowledge being disabled is expensive. Even those who can, and do, work, often spend more on living and existing than abled counterparts. PIP should be protected and to get disabled people in to work, and indeed anyone else on a form of benefits, we must invest in the economy by investing in the NHS and hold businesses to the Equality Act.

Next week is the debate on assisted dying. Many disabled people are scared and very anxious about this. There is no real definition of coercion, no training on it, nothing to stop a person feeling that they have a duty to die.
Nowhere is there a campaign from non disabled people on assisted living, independent living.
MPs have a free vote - not told how to vote. I really hope that they remember that they are there as representatives of everyone including disabled people.
Just look at Canada, MAiD is being used a lot to end the lives of disabled people. Not what it’s supposed to be used for.
