It is with great sadness that we share the news that RoadPeace has closed.

For 34 years, RoadPeace has worked to ensure that the devastating impact of road death and injury is recognised and addressed. We are incredibly proud that these issues are now firmly on the political agenda and cannot be ignored again.

During this time, UK road deaths fell from 4,568 in 1991 to 1,633 in 2024 - meaning many thousands of lives saved and countless injuries prevented. RoadPeace has been honoured to play a part in that progress.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has supported RoadPeace over the years. Your belief, commitment, and compassion made everything possible.

Today the Government published its new Road Safety Strategy, setting out its approach to reducing death and serious injury on our roads.

RoadPeace welcomes the publication of the Strategy and recognises the importance of renewed focus on road safety at a time when road deaths and serious injuries remain unacceptably high. We will now take time to carefully consider the detail of the Strategy, including its commitments, priorities, and proposed measures, and we will publish our full response in due course.

We are grateful for the time the Minister has spent meeting with members of the RoadPeace family and listening to the experiences of those bereaved and seriously injured by road traffic violence. The voices of victims and families must remain central to the development and delivery of effective road safety policy.

As part of preparing our response, we invite members of the public, campaigners, professionals, and those affected by road harm to share their views on the Strategy. Comments and reflections can be sent to [email protected] and will be considered as part of RoadPeace’s formal response.

RoadPeace remains committed to advocating for evidence-led policies that prevent road death and injury, ensure accountability and listen to the voices of victims of road safety decision-making.
