Benjamin Franklin House is a museum in a terraced Georgian house at 36 Craven Street, London, close to Trafalgar Square.

It is the last-standing former residence of Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.

One of Benjamin Franklin's enduring lessons is a call to humility. Rather than dwelling on the faults of others, he encourages us to recognise their strengths while reflecting on our own shortcomings.

This proverb appeared in Poor Richard's Almanack (1738) and reflects the values Franklin sought to cultivate throughout his life. You can read more about Franklin's values in his autobiography, available in our gift shop!

We're hosting an atmospheric candlelit evening of spooky storytelling in the historic Benjamin Franklin House!

We're looking for artists to share an original spooky or atmospheric piece in front of a live audience. Whether it's a ghost story, a chilling poem, a suspenseful tale that lingers in the mind, or just unsettling we want to hear it! We're particularly interested in work that suits the House. An original Georgian building, steeped in centuries of secrets.

If you have a piece that might make someone glance over their shoulder on their walk home, we'd love to hear from you!

This is a celebration of spoken word, shared stories, and the timeless power of a good scare.

What we're looking for:
Confident readers who can deliver their pieces live.
Pieces can be fiction or nonfiction, so long as they fit the mood.
Strong sense of atmosphere, mystery or the macabre.

Benjamin Franklin believed ideas (and plants) were worth sharing. He exchanged seeds across the Atlantic, championed botanical discovery, and even has a flowering tree named in his honour!

Join us for a lunchtime concert and a self-guided tour!

We're hosting internationally renowned countertenor Reginald Mobley and lutenist Brandon Acker for an intimate performance celebrating the songs of Charles Ignatius Sancho.

Sancho was a writer, composer, one of the most prominent Black Britons of the 18th century, and his powerful story aligns with those of John and Peter King, enslaved young men who lived and worked within Benjamin Franklin's own household during his years in London.
