Billy Boston is a Welsh former professional rugby league footballer who played as a wing or centre. He was born on 6 August 1934 in Butetown, Cardiff, Wales. Boston began his career as a rugby union player before joining Wigan in 1953. He spent the next 15 years at Wigan, where he scored a club-record 478 tries in his 488 appearances for the club.
Asked why Cardiff rugby union clubs had missed this speedy colossus with a wicked side step, he could only conclude they didnโ€™t select him because of the colour of his skin.
Walesโ€™ loss was Wigan and rugby leagueโ€™s gain. Boston went on to become the second-highest try scorer in rugby league history, scoring 571 tries in his career.
