SELWG Show 2024 - Cancelled

We deeply regret to inform everyone that SELWG 2024 has been cancelled.

The show has struggled to attract traders for the last few years, and to increase attendee numbers. This, combined with increasing supplier costs, means it would have been very difficult for the show to break even this year.

This has been a very difficult decision, but as a club our first responsibility is to our members - and to ensure we remain financially stable.

We are investigating the possibility of running a smaller event in the future (next year earliest), so hopefully this isn’t the end of the SELWG Show.

Thank you to everyone who has attended SELWG at Lee Valley the last few years. We hope you enjoyed attending as much as we enjoyed putting the event on.

Another fantastic show over, for another year!

SELWG would like to say a massive thank you to all the visitors who attended our show on Sunday, and to all the many traders, game hosts, and volunteers who made the event possible!

It was also fantastic to have 100 tournaments players from 3 separate tournaments at the show this year (The British Historical Gaming Society, Tabletop Tommies, and Age of Sigmar: Symposium SELWG)!

It was also a great pleasure to welcome back our friends from Models for Heroes.

We had more than 30 fantastic demonstration / participation games at the show yesterday. Every game looked like great fun and evidenced brilliant painting, scenery, and well planned themes / mechanics.

Congratulations to the clubs that won SELWG awards for the following:

Best in Show - Retired Wargamers Reloaded - 'Hold Until Relieved'
Best Participation game - Prince Rupert's Bluecoats - 'It's a Funny Old Game'
Best Demo game - Deal Wargamers - 'Uprising in Palestine 1938'
Best Scenery - Milton Hundred Wargames Club - 'Endlich! Die Letzte Brücke!'

SELWG 2023 is happening tomorrow!

Here is some useful information ahead of the event:


Arrival

The show venue is the Lee Valley Athletics Centre (61 Meridian Way, London N9 0AR).

Doors open at 10.00 and the show will end at 16.00.

Transport

If you are coming by car there is plenty of parking, but please note that the venue is within the expanded ULEZ zone.

You can check if your vehicle is ULEZ compliant here: Check your vehicle (tfl.gov.uk)

We will also have a free mini bus between Meridian Water train station and the venue.

This will run all day between 09.30-16.30, with a break for the driver's lunch from 12.30-13.30.

Bring & Buy

There will be a MASSIVE Bring & Buy at the show.

Please note that if you want to buy anything from the Bring & Buy you have to pay in cash, and there is no ATM on site.

This is so we can pay out the sellers later in the day.

So if you see a magnificently painted new army that you'd like to acquire - please make sure you bring enough cash to buy it!

Catering

The SELWG food court will be serving a variety of hot and cold food and drinks throughout the day.

Our caterers have taken on board that there was too much queuing last year, and will be much better organised!


Models for Heroes

Last but by no means least, we are pleased to welcome Models for Heroes back to SELWG this year.

Models for Heroes are an excellent charity who support British Armed Forces and Emergency Service personnel and veterans.

The M4H volunteers will be very happy to accept donations at the show of unstarted and complete model kits.
